Email Marketing Campaigns of Mass Distribution

Published: 15 Jul 2009

Mass distribution marketing has changed dramatically over the last few years from the printed postal versions and ads in magazines and newspapers to email marketing campaigns. Most companies today are finding that the difference in cost and the ability to track user interest and sales makes email a viable alternative. Currently every marketing dollar spent is being evaluated and budgets are being trimmed. However, you still need to let your current and potential customers know about your products and services and email marketing campaigns are affordable and cost effective.

Email marketing campaigns can be part of a mass distribution strategy but with a more targeted approach. Subscriber categories, segmented by user preferences can be created and used to send your customers sales and information based on email newsletter signup form questions, links that they click, and sales tracked from the newsletter through your website.

Email marketing campaigns should also go beyond the standard website signup forms and click-throughs to include surveys. These can be simple four or five questions that ask for user input from how easy your website is to navigate and find the products they are interested in purchasing or what they have recently purchased to their overall satisfaction of your products and services.

From the responses that you receive, you can then create individual subscriber categories based on the answers to your questions and tailor your newsletters to reflect your customer’s individual preferences and buying history. With this type of customer input, you can then easily distribute email newsletters or updates on new products or services that your customers will be more likely to respond to. You will also gain the trust and respect from your current and new customers for being thoughtful and not filling up their inboxes with what they would consider useless offers. This strategy will also improve your click-through rates and sales as subscribers will be more likely to read your newsletters and not automatically delete when they see an email is from you with offers that they have not been interested in.
