Gathering Survey Participants

Published: 03 Jun 2009

If you’re planning a survey to garner some feedback from your customers, good for you! You’re taking an important step in keeping the lines of communication open. But once you’ve created your survey and sent it out to your subscribers, how do you encourage them to participate? Well, remember when you were younger and good grades on your report card meant a trip out for ice cream or some other treat? Try applying the same principle to your clients and watch those survey results come pouring in! Rewarding subscribers for participation means you’re acknowledging the fact that their time is worth something and you appreciate their opinions. Here are some ideas to help you get those survey responses you’ve been coveting:
If you provide services, send a survey after the services have been rendered, asking how satisfied the client was with the services you provided. To motivate them to complete the survey, give them a discount off their next service once they’ve completed it.

If you own a store, staple a survey to their receipt or, even better, ask them to complete a survey while they’re in your store for a same day discount. If your business is online, reward your subscribers with a coupon for completing your survey.

Let the “what’s in it for me?” consumer approach drive the design of your surveys. Small investments can yield big payoffs, so any incentive you’re able to provide will be well worth the effort when you’re able to make informed decisions about the past, present, and future of your company.
