Community Native Planting Day

Arroyo Burro Estuary & Mesa Creek Restoration Project

This Saturday, December 2nd
10am-1pm

View the restoration site and help plant native trees and plants! Pizza is provided for volunteers.� Meet at the end of the Arroyo Burro Beach overflow parking lot, 2981 Cliff Drive. Minors must have a parent or guardian sign a release form. Call City Creeks at 897-2606 or e-mail

Westside SURF Project Complete

The Creeks Division has completed construction of an ultraviolet light facility to remove harmful bacteria in the Westside Storm Drain at Bohnett Park.

The project will:
* Improve water quality in Old Mission Creek
* Provide safer conditions for children in Bohnett Park
* Contribute to a healthier ocean at East Beach

Creek Stewardship at Stevens Park


The Creeks Division has wrapped up the first phase of a community creek stewardship project along San Roque Creek at Stevens Park.� Thanks to the 75 students, neighbors and volunteers who have planted over 300 native plants! Special thanks to Carol Bornstein and Daniel Wilson for facilitating the native planting workshops!

The stewardship project is coordinated by the Creeks Division, in partnership with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, ans is funded through a grant from Santa Barbara Beautiful and by hotel visitors through Measure B.
