Here's the line up in the kitty world of Randy


In addition to Darshan and Angel...

We've now got Lacey, a former shy feral and a beautiful black beauty who likes to sit in my lap more than she likes to eat.

Skittles, a formerly terrified gal who I named because she was so skittery, who now loves to be petted...and eat!

And a month or so after Skittles showed up, she decided underneath our back deck was the perfect place to give birth to FOUR kittens!

Voila! Instant feral cat colony.


Two of the four feral kittens I can now pet. They are long fur and black and white and gray. The two who are tabbies won't allow me to pet them.

The bravest kitten, we named Rocky. Rocky is black and white and has magnificently striking markings.

I looked directly at the kitten who looks more like Rocky a few weeks ago and asked, "What is your name?"

I heard the name and saw it spelled out exactly like this: May-Belle.

I said to the kitten, "That's a strange name. That can't be your name." Then I forgot about it.

Three days later, my partner said to me, "I've got a name for that kitten: Marble."

I was shocked... May-Belle, Marble.... Those names were so close.

I started calling her May-Belle, and she immediately allowed me to pet her for the first time, and has ever since that.

Next up: "Adventures in Spaying!"

Also, you might remember Willamagoo.

You picked up on his energy last year and told us he was a goodhearted boy, even if he was pretty gnarly to the other cats around.

He had been gone a long time, but showed up a month or so ago on a Sunday and looked worse than as thin as a rail.

His back legs were barely walking and he'd fall and wobble over.

The next morning, which would be a Monday, I was going to take him to the vet to relieve him of the misery his body was in and help him transition.

I wasn't looking forward to this awesome responsibility, but intended to do it to help him end his suffering.

When I went to look for him in the little cat bed he had settled into the day before, he was gone.

I then understood that he had just come to say "goodbye."

I don't know how he made it over the fence that surrounds our yard, but he must have gone off to die in the fields.

He had a hard life. I could not change his lessons, but I wished I could have helped him to feel more joy in this lifetime.
