Everyone who uses AVG is being asked to update to AVG 8.0 You may (or soon will) recognize this pop-up screen to the left of this article. We are asking everyone who currently uses AVG antivirus to either continue to use AVG 7.5 and opt for 'remind me later' by not installing AVG 8.0 OR switch from using AVG altogether to another great, free antivirus software called AVAST. We have found that AVG 8.0 has given some people problems, but even more than that, AVG is now annoying everyone to purchase their newest version by plying us with pop-up windows and making it quite difficult to continue to utilize the freeware they initially have offered.
To download Avast, please click HERE You will be taken to a page where you should look for "Avast! 4 Home" English Version. This is the one that you will want to download onto your machine. Click the grey 'download' button to continue. Click on 'next' several times after opening the installation and voila! you will be all set after restarting your PC.
If you choose this option, please remember to remove your AVG program on your PC. You can do this by going to 'start' then 'all programs' if you have AVG 8.0 already installed, you will see it in the list of all of your programs. If you hover the mouse over the AVG 8.0 program, it will give you the option of uninstalling it. Click 'uninstall AVG 8.0" The same goes for AVG 7.5.
