20TH ANNIVERSARY HOME SEASON

San Francisco jazzman Dmitri Matheny has traveled the world playing the music he loves, but each spring he can be found in the Bay Area staging the Home Season, his popular annual series for the hometown crowd.

The 20th annual Dmitri Matheny Home Season opens tonight -- Sunday March 8, 5 PM -- with a free concert of jazz as sacred music at Peace Church in Danville.

This Thursday, March 12, friends, fans and fellow musicians will gather down the coast at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, to witness the premiere of Dmitri's latest composition, "Footsteps in the Fog."

The centerpiece of our series will be on Sunday afternoon, March 15 in Palo Alto, where Dr. Herb Wong and the Palo Alto Jazz Alliance will present the Dmitri Matheny Jazz All-Stars in an exciting centennial celebration of saxophone legend Ben Webster.

The series will conclude on an atmospheric note, Friday March 20 at Anna's Jazz Island in Berkeley, when Dmitri Matheny & Friends will perform the familiar Miles Davis Masterpiece in a program aptly called "Our Kind of Blue."

Please join us for one or more of these Home Season events commemorating 2 decades of music-making around the Bay.
