Depression… The shadow without the light
I am addressing the subject of depression in my newsletter this month because there seems to be an epidemic of it in young people today. The Indigo phenomena was little know and hardly talked about a few years ago , but thanks to people like Daniel Jacob,  Doreen Virtue, Lee Carol and Jan Tobler it is now  more widely understood.
The first wave of these children were part of the so called generation X and some are now in their 20’s and 30’s. They are disillusioned and find themselves searching for a greater purpose in life but feel like the world isn't set up for them. This is correct they have arrived on a planet which has not yet evolved to their level of sensitivity and knowing.
They are often wise beyond their years and have trouble conforming to the ways of society.
They may feel out of place in today's world and perceive the world differently than previous generations.  They have strong intuition and are often clairsentient, telepathic and/or clairvoyant. The current education systems are not set up to accommodate the way they need to learn and study. They often feel misunderstood when you try to talk to people about what's real and feel isolated and alone in their  beliefs.

They are emotionally sensitive and most of them have built in bull shit detectors. They know when they are being fed crap but often feel helpless to do anything about all the lies and deception. As a result they may try to shut the incongruent world out. Some resort to drugs and alcohol to do this, while others simply shut down emotionally.
While we are struggling to evolve and grow spiritually, these young adults are already hardwired and equipped with the software and operating system for the new Earth. But Earth is not there yet. They have arrived ahead of schedule and are waiting for earth to catch up. They may not be completely aware of it, but they are here to challenge us, make us aware and prepare the earth for the coming changes.
We all go through ups and downs in our mood. Sadness is a reaction to life’s struggles, setbacks, and disappointments. I recently went through a very quiet and introspective period after the death of my brother. This is considered normal and is a way to deal with grief rather than run from it.  Many people use the word “depression” to explain these kinds of feelings, but clinical depression is much more than just experiencing sadness because of a personal loss or disappointment.
Some people describe depression as “living in a black hole” or having a feeling of impending doom. However, some depressed people don't feel sad instead, they feel lifeless, empty, lazy and apathetic. This is something that they will often try to hide, which can lead to isolation and deeper despair.
Whatever the symptoms, depression is different from normal sadness. Depression engulfs your life, interfering with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and even have fun. The feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness are intense and unrelenting.  
 
Depression is not just the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain, and while it may be suppressed with medication, is not cured with medication. Experts believe that depression is caused by a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. In other words, lifestyle choices, relationships, and coping skills matter just as much as genetics. However, certain risk factors make you more vulnerable to depression.
