ONE LOVE U.K. AUG 21-23RD 2009!
|
|
After phenomenal success in 2008, organisers of the One Love Festival have announced that it is to return for a second time in 2009.
UK’s only annual Reggae Camping Festival, bringing together the best in reggae, dub and electronic music and set in some of Sussex’s most spectacular landscape. Created in recognition of one of the worlds greatest ever rock gig, Bob Marley’s famous 1978 One Love concert, the One Love Festival is one of the highlights of the summer calendar and a one-of-a-kind experience.
One Love Festival is to be held from the 21st – 23rd August 2009, nestled in-between two of Jamaica’s greatest celebrations in UK. One week before Notting Hill Carnival and two weeks after Jamaican Independence day celebrations. One Love Festival is at Port Lympne Wild Animal & Safari Park, “Home of the African Adventure” Nr Ashford Kent, CT21 4PD
One Love will see the gathering of music fans to listen to 100’s of performing artists and visual DJs, playing a selection of Reggae, Dub, and Electronic music. Staged amongst four music areas, the festival will also bring a whole host of additional entertainment, including a new healing and green field area, body and soul tent, spoken word area, workshops and market stalls selling a range of craft and wares. With a huge variety of food and drink representing some of the world’s finest cuisines will be on offer.
This exciting new site also offers more 24-hour secure camping, doubling the campsite from last year. If you bring your kids along, there’s a separate family and quiet area that is secure and facilities include our award winning compost toilets.
One of the most diverse and unique festivals in the UK, the One Love Festival offers something for everyone and is an experience that should not be missed. Bringing together all the facilities and allures of a large-scale event but with the personal touch of a small, independent occasion, it will be a weekend that won’t easily be forgotten.

FROM THE FOOTBALL FIELD TO THE MUSIC STAGE!
|
|
What does a football and a microphone have in common? Well, according to BillBlunt, everything! The field is a place where he can release his energy and he gives the same to the stage. He is a true performer on both settings.
Unlike many artists that have been singing since birth, BillBlunt is late in the game. Music has always been a part of is life, as it is to most people. From the church, to the radio blasting on Sundays while mom is cooking, to even your memories of your first boy/girl dance but he only decided to take it professionally when he was fed up with politicians and decided to write about it.
BillBlunt knew that he was the only one who could truly expressed his words and his anger about corruptions was himself. So he picked up the mic and never looked back. He fell in love with music...
When he expressed his desire to his friends, family and football mates, they didn't take him seriously, but when he belted his tune, they were in awe of his bluntness, thus came his name BillBlunt! His road so far as not been an easy one, BillBlunt loves above all his family and strives to provide for all of them. His dream is to give his parents an early retirement and peace of mind.
He once said that his mother gave him that inner fight and drive, while his father taught him to be humble and patient. That's why he has no problem with paying his dues by showcasing his talents on the smallest stage to the biggest venue. BillBlunt doesn't ask but for two minutes of your time to hear his voice, to listen to his message and dare not to find a kindred spirit within him.
This summer has been a whirlwind for BillBlunt, almost all of his time is spent in the studio or on stage. His hit "Crisis" came at a time where everyone and anyone can relate, his music has been playing on radio stations from Jamaica to Canada. He is a feature new artist with Yard news Magazine, and as far as he is concern, he wants to keep putting quality music over quantity.
BillBlunt is genuinely a good guy who cares about loving and living life, eating chicken, rice and peas, a good game of football and hopes for a change in these times of crisis.

SOJA'S THIRD ALBUM TO BE RELEASED AUG 25TH
|
|
Washington D.C. based reggae band SOJA announced today that their highly anticipated, third full-length album “Born in Babylon” will be released digitally worldwide, exclusively on iTunes on August 25, 2009. The album follows up their successful 2006 release “Get Wiser” which debuted in the Top 10 Reggae albums on iTunes, and has remained in the top 100 since its release. Since 2000, the quintet has issued two full-length albums and two EPs on their label DMV Records.
Now, SOJA is ready to release 14 new tracks on “Born in Babylon.” SOJA shares about their new album, “This is the album we’ve been wanting to make for ten years. At first we were hard-core old school, then we got new school and inventive. This is what we’ve learned from all that. ‘Born in Babylon’ is hard roots drum and bass, big wide guitar and vocal melodies, and two and three sided lyrics, with two and three sided messages.”
Originally formed in 1997, SOJA consists of lead singers, Jacob Hemphill (guitar) and Bob Jefferson (bass), as well as Patrick O’Shea on keyboard, percussionist Ken Brownell and drummer Ryan Berty. The band has become renowned for using a unique blend of reggae, hip-hop, and rock to influence their sound, while staying dedicated to creating music with a real message and promoting a revolution. They have also dominated touring, averaging 150 shows a year visiting every major city in the United States and traveling internationally playing to crowds of up to 16,000 people. The band has also shared the stage with notable artists such as Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, Ben Harper, Slightly Stoopid, Damian Marley, Govt Mule, Umphrees McGee, and Steel Pulse to name a few.
For the rest of 2009 moving into 2010 SOJA plans on touring the United States extensively while promoting “Born in Babylon.” They also plan on further expanding internationally with tours in new markets such as St. Maarten, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Tahiti, Poland, Spain and Germany.
For more information on the upcoming album, plus national, and international tour dates, please visit SOJA’s website at www.sojamusic.com or MySpace at www.myspace.com/soja.

The song BE:MINDFUL came by listening to The Cool Riddim, eating RAW FOOD holding a meditation of where I came from, people and things that brought me through life, which was how I was brought with respect of elders, doing right, living right, eating right and Mama thought me that, so with that I came up with you have to BE:MINDFUL of Self, which is life.

LADY SHELLY : : KARAMANTI MIX – VOLUME 1 “RESURRECTION”
|
|
LADY SHELLY RELEASES KARAMANTI MIX – VOLUME 1 “RESURRECTION” In an industry dominated predominantly by men, the few female artists in dancehall are usually very explicit with their lyrics and appearance. Very rare do you find a credible female dancehall artist whose’ music is not base solely on sex, money or men, but still manages to remain appealing to a hardcore dancehall massive. Lady Shelly, also known as karamanti has emerged as one such artist.
Lady Shelly has been actively involved in reggae/dancehall for many years but has had to struggle every step of the way because of her refusal to compromise on her morals & beliefs. Lady Shelly’s repertoire does not preclude songs about sex, money and power but it is not dominated by these types of music. As a consequence, her climb in the dancehall industry has been a difficult one to say the least.
Having what she refers to as a karamanti spirit (refusing to give up), Lady Shelly has put together a compilation of her songs and has made it available for free download online. This is her way of avoiding the radio stations that will not play her music, the big producers that will not work with her and the record labels that will not sign her. She is choosing instead to speak directly with reggae/dancehall music lovers who are expecting more from women in reggae/dancehall.
The project is titled karamanti mix –volume 1 “resurrection”. It has approximately 18 tracks, 10 of which are new recordings. It can be downloaded at the following sites free of charge. These sites are free from virus and are used frequently by everyone in the music industry:

1 Corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
