ONE LOVE U.K. AUG 21-23RD 2009!
|
|
After phenomenal success in 2008,
organisers of the One Love Festival have announced that it is to return
for a second time in 2009.
UK’s only annual Reggae Camping Festival, bringing together the best in reggae, dub and electronic music and set in some of Sussex’s most spectacular landscape.
Created in recognition of one of the worlds greatest ever rock gig, Bob
Marley’s famous 1978 One Love concert, the One Love Festival is one of
the highlights of the summer calendar and a one-of-a-kind experience.
One Love Festival is to be held from the 21st – 23rd August 2009,
nestled in-between two of Jamaica’s greatest celebrations in UK. One
week before Notting Hill Carnival and two weeks after Jamaican
Independence day celebrations. One Love Festival is at Port Lympne Wild Animal & Safari Park, “Home of the African Adventure” Nr Ashford Kent, CT21 4PD
One Love will see the gathering of music fans to listen to 100’s of performing artists and visual DJs, playing a selection of Reggae, Dub, and Electronic music. Staged amongst four music areas, the festival will also bring a whole host of additional entertainment, including a new healing and green field area, body and soul tent, spoken word area, workshops and market stalls
selling a range of craft and wares. With a huge variety of food and
drink representing some of the world’s finest cuisines will be on
offer.
This exciting new site also offers more 24-hour secure
camping, doubling the campsite from last year. If you bring your kids
along, there’s a separate family and quiet area that is secure and facilities include our award winning compost toilets.
One of the most diverse and unique festivals in the UK, the One Love Festival offers something for everyone and is an experience that should not be missed.
Bringing together all the facilities and allures of a large-scale event
but with the personal touch of a small, independent occasion, it will
be a weekend that won’t easily be forgotten.

NONSTOP DIVERSE MUSIC HIGHLIGHTS THIS YEAR'S ORGANIC PLANET FESTIVAL AUGUST 30TH IN EUREKA, CA!
|
|
The Grammy-winning Del McCoury Band, hailed as the best bluegrass band on the face of the Earth, will fittingly headline the Organic Planet Festival's day of nonstop and spectacular music on the Eureka waterfront on Sunday, August 30.
Sharing the billing on the festival's diverse musical lineup will be international reggae star Tanya Stevens, Humboldt's own poet songstress Lila Nelson, Oakland's multicultural Latin fusion band LoCura and award-winning songwriter for kids, Peter Alsop. Del McCoury, celebrating his 50th anniversary and capping a nationwide tour, is joined by a virtuoso band that includes two of his sons. His appearance will highlight the festival, California's only celebration of natural, non-toxic living, now in its fifth year and presented by the Eureka-based Californians for Alternatives to Toxics (CATs).
The incredible music at Halvorson Park will accompany a full-morning of gardening workshops and a keynote address by Mike McGrath, former editor of Organic Gardening Magazine and host of the nationally syndicated radio show "You Bet Your Garden." Also on tap during the celebration will be dozens of exhibits displaying natural and healthy products, a non-toxic kid's village, an eco-hip fashion show of designs made from organic materials, a drawing for a thousand dollars in groceries, great organic food and a food drive. What's more, visitors can enjoy partaking of the world's largest organic salad.
The activities go nonstop from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and tickets are just $12 in advance or $15 at the gate.
Get tickets at the Arcata and Eureka Coops, the Works in Arcata or Eureka, Riversong and Wild Horse Records . For more information, please visit www.organicplanetfestival.com or call CATs at 707/445-5100

DESTROY BABYLON CREATES 'CULTURE PIRATES'!
|
|
Destroy Babylon, Boston's purveyors of punky-dub-reggae, have a unique new record titled Culture Pirates. The release includes a 7" colored vinyl single of "Culture Pirates" on the A-side, and their dubbed-out cover of Alice Coltrane's "Journey in Satchidananda" on the B-side. The record is packaged in a beautiful 28-page art book featuring the work of a dozen different artists, all doing their own version of a Culture Pirate. It also comes with 10 bonus digital downloads, including the single "Culture Pirates," which is currently receiving airplay on college radio across the nation and finds the band incorporating elements of 1960's pop in the mix with it's soaring vocal harmonies, plus "Gimme Dub" which recreates a Black Uhuru classic into a foot-stomping dub-rock anthem, and a lot more! Released on the band's own Music ADD Records, and available now at DestroyBabylon.com.
Destroy Babylon now has the honor of supporting one of their biggest influences, not to mention one of the most important figures in reggae music, Lee "Scratch" Perry, plus the most legendary band from Jamaica, the Wailers. Having just completed a successful DIY Midwest tour, a run of shows with another Jamaican legend Eek-A-Mouse, while continuing their Dub of the Month Club, this is the summer for Destroy Babylon.

EMRAND HENRY : : No Retreat No Surrender
|
|
Emrand Henry – messenger, minister, entertainer, militant for Christ, and one of St. Lucia’s finest singers, is back with his long-awaited second studio album No Retreat No Surrender. From start to finish this 15-song album is filled with edifying and uplifting lyrics, coupled with stunningly beautiful vocals that touch the soul of the listener.
Tracks like “Thank You” and “Great Day” express the purest of gratitude, while “No Retreat, No Surrender” and “Mind Made Up” provide heartfelt insight to the struggles and inspiring victories of the artiste. The more up tempo songs like “Revolution” and “Still Standing” are songs of encouragement in the face of challenges that help to balance out this note-worthy album.
With music that focuses on Social Commentary, Love, Unity and Peace in the genres of Reggae, Dancehall, and Soca, Emrand always brings out a message of change to the young people, to whom he really relates and connects. Emrand exudes the energy and stage presence of a seasoned professional with a voice that pierces straight to the soul. EVER-G : : Independence
|
We see and hear so many negative things about our world each and everyday; no wonder so many feel hopeless, fearful and stressed out. Promises made are constantly broken - when will this end? Not sure, but what I do know is that the solution to make this world a better place lies within us. Each one taking responsibility for his/her own life, knowing that life is PRECIOUS and should be lived to the fullest. One way to do this is simply to "LOVE". Love is the catalyst that will make our world a better place for all of us. "I've got one LIFE, so let me live. I've got one love, that's what I'll give."
