JAMAICAN ARTIST`S MUSIC FOR `KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS`
The music of Jamaican artist, Ce`Cile will soon be heard on the reality show, `Keeping Up With The Kardashians.`

The Jamaican reggae/dancehall diva has been gaining in popularity in recent years, and is currently enjoying the success of her hit single `Hot Like We`, which achieved the #1 spot on the German Black Music Charts only a few short months ago.

The agreement with the producers of the show covers the use of Ce`Cile`s tracks for the hit reality television series which is aired on E!: Entertainment Television.

The singer`s songs will also be heard on `The Real World,`  `Road Rules` and `Extreme / All-Star Challenge', currently airing on MTV Networks. The agreement was reached with Bunim-Murray of Los Angeles, California, the leading producers of reality TV docu-dramas in the USA and President of Jamstar Productions, LLC.

`Keeping up with the Kardashians is entering its fourth season on E!: Entertainment, and will premiere in November 2009. Real World/Road Rules Challenge recently began its eighteenth season on MTV.

REGGAE ON A HIGH DOWN UNDER
  by Howard Campbell, Gleaner Writer

Wyclef Jean

Hip hop superstar and reggae lover Wyclef Jean will headline the third Ragamuffin Reggae Festival which takes place again in New Zealand and Australia in January.

A release from promoter Andrew McManus Presents said the Haiti-born Jean will headline the festival's five shows in the New Zealand capital, Auckland, as well as dates in the Australian cities of Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Sly and Robbie, Julian Marley, Shaggy and pop rapper Sean Kingston complete the cast. Shaggy is making his second appearance on the show.

The Ragamuffin Festival was first held in 2008 by a group of reggae enthusiasts. British supergroup UB40, The Wailers and American neo-soul group Arrested Development headlined the inaugural event.
Ziggy Marley, Eddy Grant, former UB40 lead singer Ali Campbell and Inner Circle were among the performers on the event. The New Zealand leg reportedly drew 25,000 fans.

The Antipodes may be the last frontier for reggae to conquer. Bob Marley was at the peak of his fame when he toured Australia and New Zealand in 1979 but the location of those countries has always proved an economic challenge for promoters.

Roots-reggae legends Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff have performed in both countries whereas dancehall superstar Sean Paul has done shows in Australia, based on the impact of his platinum-selling albums, Dutty Rock and The Trinity.

Australian bands have had some success with reggae. Men At Work hit it big in 1982 with Down Under, which topped Billboard magazine's pop chart.

CHEF MAYRA - SEXY, LEAN AND GREEN! Hearty Vegan Crockpot Stew
Chef Mayra’s Hearty Vegan Crockpot Stew Serves: 8-10    Preparation time: 4-7 hours

    5 cups faux “chicken” broth
3 tablespoons brigs Amino acids  sauce
    1 teaspoon  organic Italian seasoning
    salt and pepper to taste
5 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire or TAMARI
3 heaping tablespoons of cornstarch whisked with a little water until not lumpy
1 8 oz can organic tomato sauce
1-2 cans organic  diced roma tomatoes with basil and garlic
    3 cloves of garlic, crushed
    1 1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/2 cup white mushrooms, diced
1 small sweet potato and 4 carrots, peeled and chopped
    2-3 zucchini, sliced
    2 cups of  cauliflower
    3/4 cup corn
    3/4 cup peas
    1/2 cup uncooked quinoa
    3/4 cup uncooked red lentils
    1 cup regular garbanzo beans
    1 cup green garbanzo beans

Directions:

The directions for this are pretty simple:  I just throw everything in (I refuse to pre-sauté anything or add ingredients at different times because that defeats the purpose of the Crockpot, to me*), leave it for 6-8 hours on low, or 4 or so hours on high, come back et voila: dinner!

Chef Notes:
This stew is high protein and really yum.  You'll get a lot of meals out of this with minimal effort.
I like to garnish each bowl with a dollop of Tofutti before serving.
Sometimes I also like to add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts and Fresh Spinach and Cilantro chopped to the stew before serving.
*If you want, you might sauté the onions, garlic, and mushrooms in a little light olive oil before tossing them in.  Personally I think they taste fine either way is a choice that you have.

PRESTIGE & MEGA BANTON NOVEMBER 8 AT THE ROCKIT ROOM IN SAN FRANCISCO 406 CLEMENT STREET

GYPTIAN & MANAGER BOTH SUSPECTS IN MAJOR CONTRACT FRAUD IN THE UNITED  STATES

Reggae artist Windel Edwards aka "Gyptian" and his manager Imran Passard aka "Peter" are now both suspects in what seems to be a major scam in the United States. Several thousand dollars were collected by Gyptian's manager for shows in the United States in which Gyptian the artist never showed up to perform as stated in his contract.

After several attempts to reach Gyptian's manager "PETER" of "HUMBLESS ENTERTAINMENT" proved to be unsuccessful, we contacted GYPTIAN by phone. Gyptian was questioned by a radio personality who chose to remain anonymous, why he didn't show up to any of the scheduled events.

He began lie, stating that his travel documents were not up to par. The anonymous radio personality then told GYPTIAN to tell the truth and that's when GYPTIAN said "Mr Imran took deposits on shows on never give me the money". The radio personality then told GYPTIAN to try and work something out with promoters in order to keep his fans happy and save his reputation as an artist, he then replied "I WANT $3000 MORE + 2 TICKETS AND MINE HAS TOBE FIRST CLASS".

The radio personality told GYPTIAN that this kind of act could lead up to his work permit in the United States getting revoked and he replied "I DON'T GIVE A F__K, UNITED STATES IS ONLY ONE PART OF THE WORLD, I HAVE PLENTY MONEY".

Is this really a scam put together by GYPTIAN'S manager or is it a joint effort to get promoters to pay more money for a GYPTIAN performance?

GYPTIAN was scheduled to perform on several shows in Connecticut, Boston, NY and many other states over the next few months, will he ever show up is the question millions of irate fans are asking promoters who are spending thousands of dollars marketing these events. Several promoters have lost thousands due to the fact that GYPTIAN has not been showing up for scheduled events and angry fans are returning pre-sold tickets by the hundreds.

Is this becoming the norm for international acts is the question lingering on the minds of many. Promoters are now scared to book events with certain artist as unethical acts like this stays on the minds of those affected for a long period of time. As of this moment, legal actions are being taken while attempts to contact GYPTIAN & his manager PETER are no longer successful.

Bio
Fitzroy "Bunny" Simpson (Vocals)
Donald "Tabby Shaw (Lead Vocals)
Lloyd Judge Ferguson (Vocals
)

As the Hope Diamond http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope_Diamond is a American national treasure, the Mighty Diamonds are Jamaican national treasures.

Every reggae fan has at least one favorite song by the Mighty Diamonds:
"Pass the Kutchie," "Right Time," "Master Plan"  “Tamarind Farm,” and the list goes on. Formed
in Trench Town, 1969, Jamaica's premier harmony trio are currently
celebrating 40 years of making music, from the most militant roots reggae to the sweetest lover's rock.

The Mighty Diamonds--Fitzroy, "Bunny" Simpson, Donald "Tabby" Shaw and Lloyd "Judge" Ferguson--know what soul is all about. The three reggae warriors have risen from the poverty and despair of inner city Kingston to become learned reggae ambassadors who have traveled throughout Europe, the U.S., Africa and Japan spreading the gospel of harmony and emancipation from mental slavery.

“Right Time,“ The Mighty Diamonds’ breakthrough album on the Channel One label, elevated the group to rock star status in 1975. Produced by Joseph Hoo Kim, "Right Time" brought together the Jamaican musical elite such as Sly and Robby (drum and bass) and Ancel Collins (keyboards) generated hits such as "Africa," "Have Mercy" "Natural Natty," "Them Never Love Poor Marcus" and the reggae party album, "Pass the Kutchie," which has been sampled by everyone from Lauryn Hill to Michael Franti to Wyclef Jean.

With wisdom and experience behind them, not to mention more albums and singles than they can count, the Mighty Diamonds are still selling out venues around the world. Led by Tabby's ebullient tenor, their live show is a journey through the African Diaspora from gospel to R&B to roots reggae and dancehall, including covers of songs by the Stylistics ("Country Living") Bob Marley, ("Get Up, Stand Up") Curtis Mayfield ("It's All Right to Have a Good Time") Jester Hairston ("Amen") and AltonEllis ("Still in Love").

During their February tour in celebration of Black History Month this year, the Mighty Diamonds made a surprise visit to the Dome school in Takilma, Oregon, discussing their culture and singing with the children.

The Mighty Diamonds have appeared on a number of compilations including "Is it Rolling Bob? A Reggae Tribute to Bob Dylan" (Sanctuary, 2004), "Old to the New" A Steely & Clevie Tribute to Joe Gibbs Classics" (VP, 2002) and "Fire on the Mountain: Reggae Celebrates The Grateful Dead ("Pow Wow, 1996). During the Christmas season, the Diamonds' lively version of "Frosty the Snowman" (Ras Records) is a hit with young and old. The Mighty Diamonds are currently promoting their latest CD, "Thugs in
the Street," produced on their independent label.

International reggae superstar and Danger Zone/SoBe Entertainment recording artiste Jah Cure is now in Europe to commence a multi-city tour.

The tour will began October 22, in Switzerland and ends in Paris on November 2 with stops in Germany, Portugal and Belgium.

While it's not usual for a Reggae artiste to be touring Europe in the autumn, such is the pull of Jah Cure. The singer who is in Europe with his new band An.Ti.Dote has had a significant presence on the charts in Jamaica and the Caribbean since the start of the year and Europe has been calling.

Della Danger, CEO of Danger Zone Records says the tour is important: "Since our last tour we have been receiving numerous requests to return as there were some places that we did not get to go the last time. Jah Cure is really popular all over Europe and we thought the year should not end without his fans on that side of the world having a chance to see him."

The tour will see Jah Cure performing in five countries from The Netherlands in the North to Portugal in the south. An excited Jah Cure said, "It is wonderful that I can again get the chance to spread the message of love and peace throughout Europe. This year has been a good year for me and this tour is my autumn surprise for my European fans" - Danger Zone/SoBe Entertainment recording artiste Jah Cure

REGGAE SINGER/DJ, "MONSOON" BORN DENTON BEDWARD, HAS EMERGED ON THE MUSICAL SCENE:
Reggae  Singer/DJ, "Monsoon" born Denton Bedward, has emerged on the musical scene with a strong force as his namesake implies. His single "As Salaam Alaikum" has already created a buzz on the  international reggae music scene and has already earned a coveted Number 7 spot on the Reggae International Singles Charts!

After a successful 10 years with the award-winning Washington, DC-based S.T.O.R.M. Reggae Band (Strong Talented Organized and Real Musicians), founder and lead singer/deejay Denton "Monsoon" Bedward has stepped out to launch his solo career.

A native of Northern Clarendon in Jamaica, the veteran singer-songwriter's vocal ability has been compared to reggae veterans Capelton, Luciano and Tony Rebel. But where he really shines is on stage. After all, with a name like Monsoon, Bedward knows he has to come in like a strong wind, without mashin’ up the place too much. If you ask Monsoon, he'll tell you his passion to explode musically has always been in his DNA.

“I found my gift for music when I was 6 years old,” he said. “I sang in church and DJ’d on the radio and in school. My friends called me “Juke Box" – because as they would knock the desks, I would rap to the beat.”

A stage career was in the making from them (students even paid to hear him sing and DJ their favorite songs). While Juke Box was making a name for himself in class and on the playgrounds, his behavior didn't sit well with the principal and his teachers.

“I used to spend a good amount of time in the principal’s office,” he recalls.

Monsoon has opened for several international artists to include Elephant Man, Capleton, Luciano, and Steel Pulse. Recently, reggae icon Leroy Sibbles declared him the next reggae artist to look for, comparing him to a modern day "Toots". Monsoon is currently recording for some top producers in Jamaica and is in talks to perform for shows slated in Jamaica, Canada and the United States.

The Power of Now
"The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly - you usually don't use it at all.
It uses you."
- Ekhart Tolle
