Systern Rain Barrel

Rain Barrel Sale Saturday, November 21st!

The Creeks Division is partnering with County Project Clean Water to host a rain barrel sale on Saturday, November 21st. The sale will take place from 10am – 2pm at Santa Barbara City College Lot 3 at the corner of Shoreline and Loma Alta.
County Project Clean Water’s rain barrel sale during Creek Week was such a success that after all 600 rain barrels were sold in just 3 hours, an additional 120 people showed up looking to buy a barrel! By using rain barrels to capture rainwater for landscape irrigation, residents will not only decrease demand on the municipal water supply but also help prevent water pollution by reducing runoff.
The SYSTERN Rain Barrels, which retail for more than $120.00, will be offered at the great price of $50.00 (includes tax), while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis.  Payment must be cash or check only.

Volunteers replace a storm drain marker.

Thank You Scouts!

This summer, local teen Peter Sorensen contacted the Creeks Division for assistance in completing his Eagle Scout project. The Creeks Division provided maps and supplies, and on October 10, Peter brought together 30 of his fellow Scouts, troop leaders, parents, and siblings. The enthusiastic volunteers spent 3 hours cleaning and replacing over 300 storm drain markers!
Increasing awareness of the storm drain system is an important part of the Creeks Division's outreach program. Storm drain markers help to remind community members that everything that enters the storm drain flows directly to our creeks and the ocean untreated.
