Developmental Ages and Stages: Ensure Appropriate Practices |
|
This session will address that wide span of development you have in your classrooms each year so that you can meet each student where they are. We’ll follow the predictable, sequential path of K-3 students physically, cognitively, socially and in the area of language and look at the classroom implications. You’ll learn how to integrate all that you are required to teach into developmentally-appropriate practices for your wide range of learners.
Date: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:30
Presenter: Jean Mann
Jean is also leading, Increase Vocabulary Understanding and Use on March 3 and Optimal Spelling Instruction for Grades K-4 on March 17, 2010. | |

Join author Steve Glazer to learn how to incorporate place-based teaching and learning in your curriculum. A quest is a community treasure hunt that guides people through -- and teaches them how to see -- a unique community treasure. This treasure might be a natural feature in the community (a watershed, a park or wetlands), a cultural site (the oldest building, the first gravestone) or perhaps the setting of a particular story (the life of a person, the home of an animal or the beginnings of an industry). Read the full workshop description here.
Date: Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 9:00 to 2:30
Audience: This workshop is designed for 3rd and 4th grade teachers with an emphasis on community and state landmarks which may be transferred to other age groups.
Cost: Member School Staff $25, Associate Member School Staff $30, Non-Member $40
