Dear Friends,
Spring has sprung and a new season of jazz is beginning here in the Valley of the Sun.
I've only been in Arizona a short while but it already feels like home. I'm so proud to be part of this vibrant cultural scene. Our arts community is world class, the desert landscape is beautiful, and the people who live here are the coolest.
The Dmitri Matheny Group's 2010 concert season opens tomorrow evening in Scottsdale. I'm writing to extend a personal invitation and share a few performance and tour highlights of the year ahead with the hope that you can join us.

OPENING NIGHT TOMORROW
Swing into Spring with the Dmitri Matheny Group on Thursday, March 25th at 7:30 p.m. Presented by Sacred Grounds Jazz Coffeehouse in Scottsdale, this exciting show features stellar Las Vegas saxophonist Charles McNeal and the world class rhythm team of Nick Manson, Thomas Williams and John Lewis.

CHANDLER JAZZ THIS WEEKEND
We're pleased to take part in this weekend's 11th annual Chandler Jazz Festival, Arizona's largest jazz event, right here in my new adopted hometown. Catch the Festival All-Stars directed by Nick Manson this Friday, March 26th at 8:00 p.m., and check out the Dmitri Matheny Group [featuring Las Vegas saxophonist Charles McNeal and California bassist Ruth Davies] on the main stage this Saturday, March 27th at 5:45 p.m.

OPERATION DESERT HORN
In the month of May I will have several great opportunities to collaborate as a guest artist with some truly exceptional musicians. On May 2nd it will be my privilege share the stage with Wycliffe Gordon and Gerald Clayton at the Paradise Valley Jazz Party. On May 27th, Fred Forney, Denny Monce and I will continue our "brass masters" series, this time Celebrating Miles Davis. And on May 28th I will be honored to appear with the soulful, swinging Armand Boatman Trio at Jazz in the Hills.

SUMMER TOUR
Grant & Matheny and the Dmitri Matheny Group will hit the road this summer to promote the release of our new CDs. Highlights of the travel schedule include Oregon's Siskiyou Institute in June, California's Redlands Bowl Music Festival in July, and Colorado's Telluride Jazz Celebration in August.

Tickets are now on sale for the main event of for our 2010 WinterFest. Presented by Lake Shore Producers, December 18th at Tempe Center for the Arts, Dmitri Matheny's Holiday Jazz Party will feature vocal sensation Clairdee [pictured] and top jazz talent from throughout the western United States.
