Director's Notes
Deadline approaching to be considered as a NCPDD presenter
The planning committee will be reviewing proposals in April and May for the October 8, 2010 North Country Professional Development Day. Proposals should be tied to one of three conference themes: Response to Intervention, technology integration or the use of data. Educators interested in sharing their expertise should submit a proposal by the end of April. Download proposal form.
Consultation available for assessing student writing
Writing assessments are currently taking place at various schools and are proving to be very effective and beneficial. Schools working to improve daily writing, reduce interventions and raise test scores, should consider scheduling consultations with Jean Mann. Jean can work with individual teachers to examine and assess students’ writing samples in order to determine specific weaknesses in the varied elements or traits of the content. She will help to bring an understanding as to why these weaknesses occur and how to improve them and the quality of a whole piece. Contact NCES to schedule Jean to meet with interested teachers for the spring or the next school year.
