DR REYNOLDS TRIBUTE

Gathering to honor Dr. Reynolds

Dr. Reynolds retired January 31, 2010 after treating pediatric oncology patients for over 35 years in Spokane.

Candlelighters families gathered together on May 7, 2010 in Manito Park to honor the man who treated their children as if they were his own. Some children are thriving, some still in active treatment, others struggle with late effects, and some families came to honor the man who walked with them as they said goodbye to their child. The one constant is the profound and lasting impact Dr. Reynolds has made in so many lives.

Candlelighters presented Dr. Reynolds with a bound book of stories and photos submitted from families new and old. For those who missed the photo shoot or were unable to attend, Dr. Reynolds wants to do this again next year to keep up with the lives of the children and families who have also impacted his life. A copy of the book is availble to be viewed in the Candlelighters office.

Thank you to Tim Rau for spearheading this effort and for the cake created by his wife. Tim was Dr. Reynolds 34th patient. Thanks also to Kim Ward at Providence Sacred Heart Children's Hospital for her dedication to this effort.

Special thanks to Brandy Peterson who lovingly assembled the stories as she remembered her own daughter Taylor who passed away in 2006 at 10 months old. It was truly a labor of love.
