Candlelighters says Farewell to Karen

During Karen’s tenure at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, she has been a staunch supporter of Candlelighters. By working hand-in-hand, she ensured that families and children received the best possible care and support.

Far surpassing any job description of social worker, Karen has helped countless families and children navigate the system of childhood cancer. Her warmth, caring, acceptance, and friendship have made a lasting impact on families.

Thank you Karen for bringing that indefinable but essential quality to a job that has positively impacted so many families while they were undergoing tremendous challenges.

Message from Karen Gordon

Many of you have already heard my family and I have made the decision to relocate to Seattle. My last day at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital is June 30^th. 

I have accepted a position at Seattle Children’s with their Heme/Onc program.

This decision has been bittersweet. I will truly miss working with the Pediatric Heme/Onc team and families at Sacred Heart Children’s.

Working with this amazing team and wonderful families has been a powerful and rewarding experience. I am continuously amazed by your strength. There are no words to express my gratitude to all of you for teaching me so often about the healing power of hope and compassion.

Thank you for allowing me to walk along side you during your journey. I intend to carry on your practices to my new position. I will serve a different community, in your honor, by applying the knowledge and experience you have offered me.

I will hold all of you in my heart with fondness and grace.
