Yoga for Children and Youth with Special Needs |
After six years of teaching middle school through high school age youth with special needs, last year I began teaching yoga for younger children through Synergy Center.
In March, I expanded my knowledge and skills by taking a workshop with Craig Haneuer in NYC. In July, I will continue my studies with Sonia Sumar's program, Yoga for the Special Child. This is a one week program that I'm sure will be the start of another certification. Some of us just can't get enough!
I will be teaching yoga for the younger and older children this summer through Synergy (Sensations Charitable Foundation) and the Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center. Both of these organizations serve children and families who greatly benefit from yoga. |

Dear Friends,
I hope the this newsletter finds you in good spirits this weekend as we celebrate our nation's independence.
My sister's children, Chris and Tim (pictured above with their dad), joined the army this past spring. Chris went in 6 weeks or so before Tim. Chris completed boot camp and graduated yesterday. He's home on leave now before he heads out to his next training assignment and eventually his deployment. Tim graduates in August. We are so very proud of them and their commitment to service. Their father (pictured in the middle) served in the Navy for 20 years.
On this Independence Day, let's remember that Bowe W. Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho has been held by the Taliban for more than a year. Let's honor all the families who sacrifice on our behalf so that we can enjoy this good life. Unless there's a service person in the family, It's easy to get caught up in everyday events and lose sight of the challenges facing families who have loved ones in harm's way.
May the long time sun shine upon you

If you watch TV, you may have seen the Pepsi Refresh commercial about the big give away. Synergy Center has been in the running since May 1st. We are really close to winning that $250,000.00 to build an inclusive center right here in southeastern CT. We need your help to do this (and all your friends help too!)
The center will serve children and families with special needs. And it will provide jobs as well!
