Here it is again, with correct date for the picnic. In my haste I GOT IT WRONG! It is THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 7!

You just received a Burgee yesterday. Why another one so soon?

For a couple of good reasons:

• Some - maybe all - of you received a 'scam' email, purportedly from fellow ASI sailor Heidi Dzendel. From the email, you learned that Heidi has been stranded in Spain and has lost her wallet, credit cards, everything. She is distraught, and badly needs a 'loan' of $2850 so she can pay her hotel bill, airline ticket home, etc. She'll pay you back as soon as she's back in the States. Scam? Of course! Heidi is alive and well, except for having an email box bulging with questions from you all, and - who knows what? That's why you couldn't email her! If you received this email from 'Heidi', be assured that it is a scam, and treat it as you would any similar request for money from a 'friend' or 'relative'. In all these cases the email address has been hijacked and used for nefarious purposes. Ain't technology wonderful? 

• Yesterday's Burgee neglected to emphasize that the big, annual, ASI summer picnic and general membership meeting is this Saturday, August 7, around 11:30 or 12 noon. ASI provides the burgers, hot dogs, chefs (thanks, Marilyn Alimpich and Judy Martens !). What can you bring? A dish for the picnic buffet, maybe a main course or desert or salad, your kids -even if the're dogs -  and your appetite! There will also be a 'parade of Sail', in which you'll be invited to participate, with coordinated sailing maneuvers. This promises to be a real 'photo-op'! If we get rained out for the picnic and 'parade of sail', we'll try again on Sunday, August 8.
