As I am bringing Be The Medicine out in many forms people have been wanting to know more about my story. Here I will be sharing why and how the work works and how I discovered healing and living secrets.

 

Working with guides and teachers helps a lot. Listening to your heart and trusting yourself is even more valuable. Life is a co-creative effort in all areas. I hope this inspires you to find your own way to be glorious you.

 

I have always felt guided and cared for although I may not have called it that until I was forty. Is it my higher self and inner guidance, or the many amazing wise ones who have traveled with me throughout my life? Both.

 

I am never lonely or alone and very comfortable with myself. I have lived a long full life of extreme trauma and love. I always choose healing over complaining and reject pain of all types as undesirable, so I have learned how to heal myself, and others when they choose.

 

It was not always this way; I was caught in extreme illness, pain and depression as a child growing up in a household of chronic illness. I rebelled when I was told that this was my life path, to live and die young and in pain and debilitating disease. No thank you I said, and began my research and ongoing studies that continues still.

 

Somehow this was my journey to live through extreme challenges and heal them so I could share these methods with others. I accept this and hope for more learning from joy, than sorrow the remainder of my life.

 

Recently a young Shaman whom I have been mentoring, told me of her experience with my guides, when I asked her to support an aspect of my healing. She said, “I always wondered about the truth of what you were speaking of when you spoke about your guides Janet... you really do have a lot of guides talking to you all the time.” When she journeyed for help in how to support me, a large group of my guides began to speak with her all at once. She was overwhelmed and asked my guides to speak to her guides so she could understand them.

 

I am blessed to have so much support, it is a big mission that I have been given. At twenty-six I was told that I would publish many books and speak worldwide. I was a young mother and wife and thought this was interesting and a long way off.

 

I read books all of my life, a bookaholic who had a library with cards and systems at nine years old. I have always been curious and also lived a full life of motherhood, marriage, divorce, dating, business owner, Realtor, racecar driver, dancer and then Shaman and Medical Intuitive Energy Healer, Author and Teacher.

 

As I look back there were always wise ones whispering in my ear. When my children were born I learned not to be attached to them. This was not from my mother or any other human I knew. I was to allow the girls, not mine, to be their own people from the beginning. My job was to guide them and allow them their own experience. I never did understand parents who wanted to control their children. I loved their journey of discovery as much as I enjoyed my own.

 

My Dad, who died when I was twenty, often is here enjoying my adventures with me, and he holds me through the rough spots like he did when I was little. Now my daughter Lisa is with me as well and encourages me. We have helped one another through our time since she left her body thirty months ago.

 

I enjoy teaching students how to explore and experience the subtle realms and meet and work with their internal and spiritual guides and teachers. It is so powerful to realize how supported we are. Many of our guides are recognized from our childhood experiences, when we were told to ignore them, or we have seen them in our meditations and our dreams.

 

Many in the spiritual realms are here for each one of us, to support us on this earth walk. In allowing them to help us, we help them as well. When we ask for help when we need it they can help us more. When we are specific in our requests we receive the most help.

My favorite story is the time when I was unhappily preparing to move from Woodstock, NY. It was such a magical time for me. I met soul friends and enjoyed close companionship with hummingbirds, deer, squirrels, more birds and amazing people from around the world. Woodstock was a wonderful place for me to experience, learn and heal deeply, but not the place to launch my Be The Medicine work.

 

I was teaching a class at Mirabai, a bookstore in town, the class was called; “Heal your home, Heal your life.” When we came to the place in the class where each person was in meditation, traveling to their own homes and doing clearing work, I was called to go to my compound in Woodstock.

 

I saw dark energy around part of the property and cleared it. Next I saw a big circus like tent with big stakes and ropes overhead. The ropes all let go and folded up into this royal blue tent that had been covering the entire property. The tent and ropes disappeared into the sky as I watched the stakes disappear from around the property. A few stakes were left and I heard that they would leave within a few hours.

 

I then heard that my work was done living here. I then heard a directive to call a friend from New Jersey, and ask her if I could stay with her for a while until I set up my new Center.

 

After the class I made the call and began to pack. I had already told my landlords I was leaving in six weeks, now I knew where I was going. So much of my life is a knowing ahead of time, and I live each day gently and feel my way to see how it unfolds in its own way. There are abundant surprises as well, never a dull moment.

 

Shamanism has proven to be a powerful way for me to help people connect to their deeper selves, purpose and healing and to understand the earth, sky and Universal truths that are the real laws of living.

 

It’s your name, he said. I realized that this name spoke of my soul purpose-to bring truth and healing directly, clearly and with joy. I have to add the joy because that is my way. I looked up straightarrow in the dictionary and it spoke of a conservative person. This sounded full of stiffness and rules. This is definitely not me.

No matter how deep I go, or how much truth is revealed, there is always a giggle and deep love. I teach students that if you ever work with a spiritual teacher and they are serious and full of themselves, and worst of all - say they are done with their personal healing work-run.

Spirituality is all about living pure love and the innocence of a child, with pure perception, truth and experience. Life is a journey of healing and becoming more love and more you as a person and as a soul here on earth. This is true enlightenment here on earth.

 This ongoing growth never ends-thank goodness or what would we do here? As a teacher, I am constantly a student learning each moment from each person and experience.

My medicine name is Heyoka Greywolf, which was also given to me by spirit when I was first initiated as a Medicine Woman. Heyoka is powerful medicine. Heyoka is coyote medicine with transformation, adversity and joy-you never know what to expect.

My life has been this constant unexpected journey to places and things. Unexpected is also the way spirit works through me. Working directly with what people need is what will occur-no matter what I or we plan. Greywolf is the teacher. I teach from the heart- not the way toastmasters international teaches.

I went to toastmasters for a bit. The room was filled with pharmaceutical drug reps and here I was teaching people how to heal naturally and Be Their Own Medicine. Not a good fit. There is no selling of truth-either it is or it is not. Living in alignment with your nature heals. I love teaching people how to do and be it!

Back to the beginning.

At the age of forty, I was a top Realtor in NJ, and also studied healing and spirituality, reading three books a week. I lived integrity and service and enjoyed helping people help themselves to make the best choices and guide them along the way.

My broker came in one morning and said he met a Shaman at breakfast who he had opened a shop in a local town. A Shaman in a diner, in New Jersey? My curiosity drove me to finish all I had to do for my clients and then go to that shop. I was not totally familiar with all of the native items, but I loved the handcrafted jewelry.

My native heritage so far had been to be told by my mother regularly as a challenging child with her own mind-that she was going to send me back to the Indians,. She also told me to walk a mile in another’s moccasins before judging them.  In history we had studied about the Delaware and Lenape tribes locally and other stories of Indians across the land. I did not really know what a Shaman was in the deepest sense.

So I went to the shop and waited until he was free to speak to me. He came over to me with his soft doe eyes and held my hands. Surprisingly not creepy, I felt the deep love and honor he shared.

Eagle Bear was the one who told me that I was a Shaman and mentored me through spirit led explorations and discoveries for many years. I did not believe him. Instead I was awakened by spirit over and over again.

Guidance that I took for granted since a child became something I paid attention to and cherished. He taught me ceremonies and so much more. When he died he passed on half of his lineage to me by transmission and words.

My journey took me to explore and be initiated by spirit in many lineages from around the world both shamanic and spiritual traditions. I was guided to Masters in body and out. I began to teach and initiate people as if I had always done it. I also began being aware of the profound healing that came through me.

I do not perform native ceremonies from any tradition, even through I was initiated and taught with approval. I honor the rainbow of all as one and allow that to lead ceremonies and sessions.

When I work with people we sit together and move through whatever they need to learn or heal in ways that YOU can receive it. I look like your sister or mother or aunt. No need for outward trappings or tools, and yet sometimes we use them. Change occurs in a conversation sitting on chairs or on the telephone.

Fast forward to now. I am here to be a rainbow bridge for people who are waking up from all areas of life, including healthcare professionals and business people, into awareness of who they are and their place in this world and how to live their purpose. Mentoring advanced and new students and apprenticing them into themselves as leaders and teachers and healers is also my joy and privilege.
