Everglades Restoration Makes Dollars and Sense; Stopping Discharges and Pollution Can Turn a Big Profit
Come to the Rivers Coalition meeting on Jan. 27 to learn how saving our St. Lucie River and the Everglades is good for business interests as well as our values and quality of life.

Not even Bernie Madoff could produce the profits available through sound restoration, according to a new comprehensive economic study.

A return on investment topping 400 per cent is possible if we put the public good ahead of special interests, the study concludes.

We're sure you'll find the meeting valuable, and the river cries as never before for your enthusiastic support.

We will also review 2010 and have a group discussion of where we'll be headed for the year ahead.

Plenty of free parking, and even coffee and donuts, await you at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 at Stuart City Hall.

Rivers Coalition Re-Doubling Efforts for 2011
As we move into 2011 and beyond, The Rivers Coalition continues as the dedicated advocate for the great though abused St. Lucie river and estuary.

The Coalition’s overriding goal is to stop the polluting discharges from inland that continually degrade the estuary.

A companion goal is to support related efforts to restore the overall Everglades and to maximize benefits for the public. These efforts include support for the Caloosahatchee estuary to the west.

The Coalition will utilize to the extent possible the evidence and findings from its pending federal lawsuit which asserts that the periodic, polluting discharges constitute an unconstitutional taking of riparian rights owned by waterfront property owners.

The Coalition maintains its website RiversCoalition.org as a principal source of documents and information concerning the estuary issues. It also provides public information at its membership meetings and other locations regarding the estuary’s value and challenges.
