Housework be gone

We understand the demands of childhood cancer treatments. We also understand that as much as we wish we could do it all, sometimes we have to let some things go.

Let us help you with the housework. We have contracted with a fully licensed/bonded cleaning service to provide help to families whose child is either in active treatment or requiring extensive follow-up care.

Currently, this is for the Spokane are but if you live in outlying areas and wish to take advantage of this, please let us know and we will work to get you help in your area.

Check in with Michaella in the office or call 509-474-2759 or 509-443-4162

We are so happy to report that we have no new families this last month except for one who wishes to not be included in our newsletter.

Let's hope next month is the same!

Family Event at Bumpers in Northtown Mall

Please join us at

Bumpers in the Northtown Mall

for some family  fun!

Sunday March 27th

4:30 - 7:00 PM

We will have the facility exclusively. Although Bumpers keeps their facility squeaky clean, given the compromised immune systems of our kids, we will have volunteers arrive early and do an extra wipe down with anti-bacterial cloths.

Pizza and pop will be available and we will have plenty of volunteers to help out so parents can relax a bit. Depending on your feedback, this may become a regular event. We look forward to seeing you for some well-deserved fun.

Spokane Parent Groups

Our Spokane Parent group will begin meeting the third Thursday of the month in April with a gathering at Fiesta Mexicana at 1227 SGrand Ave from 6:00PM - 7:30PM on April 21.

We are working with Maggie, pediatric oncology social worker, to bring a variety of topics and speakers every month. Our permanent location is still to be determined and may vary depending upon the activity.

Some suggestions so far: a night to get together to create environmentally safe cleaning products, speakers on PTSD and childhood cancer, an art night, and parenting through crises. Our goal is to have a wide variety of topics and ideas for parents from beginning treatment to long-term follow up.

We welcome your ideas. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

RSVP is requested. 509-443-4162

An email reminder will go out in April.

Sadly we say goodbye

Emmett Snyders

Emmett's smile was infectious and touched everyone who met him. He is an inspiration to so many.

Skyyler Barron

Skyyler has had a long hard battle and his sweet spirit will be missed so very much.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all families struggling with the loss of their child.

If you would like to submit a memorial for our newsletter for your child, please email mruddis@accoinlandnw.org

Need Help with your bills?

We have help for all ACCOIN families who are Avista utilities customers and need some assistance with their utility bill.

Please see the Avista Heating Assistance Request form for guidelines and priorities. This is not restricted to families whose child is still in treatment.

If you are not an Avista customer and your child is still in treatment or still receiving extensive follow-up care, you can apply for our Emergency Funds assistance.

Emergency funds can be used for a wide variety of expenses from car repairs to help with mortgage/rent payments. Please contact us with any questions. 509-474-2759
