This spring has been a terrible allergy season and many of you are suffering for the first time
in years. Listed below are some quick tips to help you avoid excessive allergy irritation:

1. Chew your food 20 times per bite. Undigested food in the intestinal tract can cause inflammation and increased histamine responses all over the body.
2. Avoid consuming large quantities of dairy products. Dairy tends to produce more mucous in the body, which can make congestion worse.
3. Try rubbing a small quantity of Vaseline on the inside of each nostril. This can help trap pollen and stop it from reaching deeper in the nasal cavity. Be sure to rinse out the Vaseline every night and use a sterile Q-tip to apply and remove the Vaseline.
4. Exercise! Elevating your heart rate and getting excited will cause blood vessels to constrict, which can make that stuffy, runny nose feel better. Exercise can release adrenaline which always feels better.
5. Avoid drinking alcohol. Alcohol can cause dilation and irritation in the gastrointestinal tissue. This can lead to leaky gut syndrome, which will cause all allergy symptoms to become worse when eating foods.
6. Consume natural antihistamines such as vitamin C. Try to find a brand that is fully reduced ascorbic acid and take up to 3000 mg per day. Consult your doctor prior to taking large doses of vitamin C if you suffer from gout or kidney stones. |
