CANADIAN ARTIST KAYSHA LEE IS TAKING JAMAICA BY STORM

After being in Jamaica  for only seven months, Kaysha Lee has accomplished what it’s taking some local artists a lifetime to achieve.

Kaysha Lee’s biography reads like that of someone who can retire knowing that they have attained the heights of success as a performing artist. From learning to play piano at age six, to hearing her dad sing tunes from their native Jamaica, music has always been in Kaysha’s life. It might have been destined then that, at 15, Kaysha began to nurture her singing talent through participation in gospel choirs. Eventually, she toured Canada, the U.S.A and France with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, received a Gemini award as part of the Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale and performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration. At that time, Kaysha was also a vocal and piano theory teacher. She credits these experiences with helping her to embark on a solo career in 2009.

Since going solo, Kaysha has released the singles entitled “Pirates in the Ship” (this features rapper QuandoN), and “My Hearts Crying Out For You”. Both songs are available for purchase through iTunes and can be viewed on You Tube, My Space, and Reverb Nation. Following the success of both singles she released her mix CD, Undefined. The mix was initially released in London, England and Toronto Canada but its now available to everyone on her website.

THE SIERRA NEVADA WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL PROMOTES CONSCIOUS MUSIC - NEXT WEEKEND!

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival kicks off next weekend, June 17-19, at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located in Boonville, California.  Sierra Nevada features 3 days of the best in roots reggae and world music taking place on two stages, with a late-night "Jamaican style" dancehall.

In addition to more than 30 bands, the 18th annual Summer Solstice and World Peace Celebration also includes an extensive schedule of children's activities, arts and crafts, an international food court, family and alter-able camping and vendors galore.  With beautiful streaming colors and exotic aromas, the festival village is an attractive marketplace of food and craft booths created by the collective efforts of artists, vendors, staff, volunteers and ticket buyers that has something to offer children of all ages.

About The Music:
Each year, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival gathers the best in roots reggae and world music from the four corners of the globe to grace the festivals' stages and 2011 will be no exception.

About the Venue:
Situated in the heart of the picturesque Anderson Valley, the Mendocino County Fairground is an ideal place for our outdoor music and camping festival.  Located just two hours north of San Francisco, the Fairgrounds are easily accessible from all Bay Area airports.  The camping is in a lovely valley surrounded by hills dotted with oak trees!  Alternative camping is also being furnished by the Anderson Valley Brewing Company which is located just a short walk from the Fairgrounds.

The lush green grass that engulfs the main Valley Stage is easy to dance on while the large bandstand that overlooks the Valley Stage is a great way to sit back and enjoy the festivities.  Nestled under a grove of redwood trees, the Village Stage is an intimate setting where some of the finest performances take place each year.  Each June, the large barn that normally houses antique farming equipment is converted into a dancehall where sound systems can be heard pounding out reggae beats until the wee hours of the morning.  There is a massive centrally-located food court with craft vendors dotting the entire fairgrounds.  There is also a 'Kids Zone' that offers activities throughout the day including bounce houses, hooping, arts and crafts, drum workshops, story telling and a daily parade led by Loco Bloco and the Samba Stilt Circus.

Ticket Information:
Tickets to SNWMF 2011 are on sale now.  A 3 day advance music ticket is $150.  Advance 1-Day tickets are $60 for Friday or Sunday and $70 for Saturday.  Camping is for 3 day music ticket holders only and is not included in the 3 day ticket price.  Camping passes per car/SUV are $60.  Tickets are available Online and at our Independent Ticket Outlets.  Please visit the SNWMF Web Site for more information.  SNWMF offers  Family Camp and Alter-abled camp areas located close to the venue gates.

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival promotes conscious music.  Music with a message of peace, unity and brotherhood that transcends divisions of race and culture.  Over the past 17 years, we've endeavored to build a community where conscious music, roots music,  and world music are embraced.  Sierra Nevada World Music Festival is to nurturing a world family peacefully united in celebration of the universal spirit of music.  Come celebrate with us!

Kelly followed up Love So Nice, with Juvenille (2002), Conscious Voice (2002), Smile (2003), Bless(2003), and Tough Life (2005), His latest album, Red Pond (2010) features the lilting lovers rock tune "Too Late" with Queen Ifrica, "Murderer," a ferocious admonishment of gun violence, and "African Child" which was partially inspired by Kelly's unforgettable visit to Haiti.

TENNIS PLAYER SERENA WILLIAMS & REGGAE STAR GRAMPS MORGAN VISITS SEAN KINGSTON IN MIAMI HOSPITAL
Miami Beach: Sean Kingston remains in critical but stable condition at a Miami hospital after crashing his personal watercraft into a Miami Beach bridge and the hip hop singer may owe his life to a Good Samaritan who came to his rescue.
Kingston’s publicist Joseph Carozza provided the update on the singer’s condition Tuesday. He says the singer’s family is asking for privacy while acknowledging how grateful they are for the prayers and support from Kingston’s fans.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino says the 21-year-old singer and a female passenger were injured Sunday afternoon when their watercraft hit the Palm Island Bridge.
A Good Samaritan who just happened to be at the right place at the right time rescued the singer and his passenger from the water.  John Rivera was on a boat near the bridge and saw Kingston under water after the accident.  “I went behind Kingston, put my arms around his back, I just held his body out of the water,” said Rivera. Rivera said Kingston was throwing up salt water and blood as he kept the two of them afloat until help arrived.
Kingston was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he remains in the intensive care unitReggae singer Gramps Morgan visited Kingston on Monday and said he’s holding on.  “He’s stable. A lot of rumors are going around saying that he passed away. But he’s not passed away. Sean Kingston is alive and well,” said Morgan.  Tennis player Serena Williams also visited with Kingston most of Monday afternoon.  “Just continue to pray for my, my little buddy,” said Williams.
Kingston rose to fame with his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls"  and was also featured on songs by artists including Justin BieberOn Twitter, Bieber posted a message of support for Kingston.  “Got my friend Sean Kingston in my prayers tonight,” Bieber tweeted early Monday. “A true friend and big bro. SIZZLA : : THE SCRIPTURES
With The Scriptures, Sizzla has collaborated with famed producer Lloyd ‘John John’ James, Jr., son of the legendary King Jammy, to create an album both thoughtful and intriguing.  Jamaica’s finest musicians, including Jackie Mittoo, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Dean Fraser, Bobby Ellis and Vin Gordon, to name a few, join sweet harmony vocalists Fiona Robinson, Camar Doyles, Connie Francis and Sherida to produce a full, multi-layered background for Kalonji’s varied vocal stylings in a surprisingly rootsy style.
DUBTONIC KRU : : DUB TONIC GOLD EDITION
Our music represents the very meaning of the words… "DUB-TONIC".  "DUB" relating to the music and "TONIC" referring to medicine. From ancient times, music has played an essential role in the development of life and has always been around us, we would then say that music is a part of the foundation.  "DUB - TONIC" =  FOUNDATION MEDICINE.

1262:  Roman Catholic Church outlaws cannabis in France.
1944:  Cedella aka Ciddy and Captain Norval Sinclair Marley, parents of Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley), get married in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica.
1980:  [JAPAN] Legendary reggae bar 69 is open at Shinjuku 2-chome, Tokyo, Japan.
----:  Abijah (Andrew Smith) is born in Kingston, Jamaica.
2002:  Jeremy Lee, Stereo Passion sound system owner, dies in boat accident at age 36.

ANDRU BRANCH:ROCKSTEADY
Recorded at legendary Harry J Studio in Kingston, this single takes us back to the golden era of Jamaican music.  Featuring the original rocksteady drummer, Studio One pioneer, Soul Vendor Joe Isaacs, “Rocksteady” also features reggae Godfather Earl “Chinna” Smith on guitar.  Soaring saxophones, bubbling keyboards and playful harmonies paint a fun-filled soundscape for Andru Branch’s loving testimonial, reminiscent of the days of doo-wop.

Branch has been quietly working away at finishing his new album Step Into The Light, recorded with the illustrious Halfway Tree reggae band, featuring legendary Studio One bass player Brian “Bassie” Atkinson.

APPRECIATION
"You can never get to peace and inner security without first acknowledging all of the good things in your life. If you're forever wanting and longing for more without first appreciating things the way they are, you'll stay in discord."
-- Doc Childre and Howard Martin
