PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES THIS WEEKEND!!!!!

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival kicks off next weekend, June 17-19, at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located in Boonville, California.  Sierra Nevada features 3 days of the best in roots reggae and world music taking place on two stages, with a late-night "Jamaican style" dancehall.

In addition to more than 30 bands, the 18th annual Summer Solstice and World Peace Celebration also includes an extensive schedule of children's activities, arts and crafts, an international food court, family and alter-able camping and vendors galore.  With beautiful streaming colors and exotic aromas, the festival village is an attractive marketplace of food and craft booths created by the collective efforts of artists, vendors, staff, volunteers and ticket buyers that has something to offer children of all ages.

About The Music:
Each year, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival gathers the best in roots reggae and world music from the four corners of the globe to grace the festivals' stages and 2011 will be no exception.

About the Venue:
Situated in the heart of the picturesque Anderson Valley, the Mendocino County Fairground is an ideal place for our outdoor music and camping festival.  Located just two hours north of San Francisco, the Fairgrounds are easily accessible from all Bay Area airports.  The camping is in a lovely valley surrounded by hills dotted with oak trees!  Alternative camping is also being furnished by the Anderson Valley Brewing Company which is located just a short walk from the Fairgrounds.

The lush green grass that engulfs the main Valley Stage is easy to dance on while the large bandstand that overlooks the Valley Stage is a great way to sit back and enjoy the festivities.  Nestled under a grove of redwood trees, the Village Stage is an intimate setting where some of the finest performances take place each year.  Each June, the large barn that normally houses antique farming equipment is converted into a dancehall where sound systems can be heard pounding out reggae beats until the wee hours of the morning.  There is a massive centrally-located food court with craft vendors dotting the entire fairgrounds.  There is also a 'Kids Zone' that offers activities throughout the day including bounce houses, hooping, arts and crafts, drum workshops, story telling and a daily parade led by Loco Bloco and the Samba Stilt Circus.

Ticket Information:
Tickets to SNWMF 2011 are on sale now.  A 3 day advance music ticket is $150.  Advance 1-Day tickets are $60 for Friday or Sunday and $70 for Saturday.  Camping is for 3 day music ticket holders only and is not included in the 3 day ticket price.  Camping passes per car/SUV are $60.  Tickets are available Online and at our Independent Ticket Outlets.  Please visit the SNWMF Web Site for more information.  SNWMF offers  Family Camp and Alter-abled camp areas located close to the venue gates.

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival promotes conscious music.  Music with a message of peace, unity and brotherhood that transcends divisions of race and culture.  Over the past 17 years, we've endeavored to build a community where conscious music, roots music,  and world music are embraced.  Sierra Nevada World Music Festival is to nurturing a world family peacefully united in celebration of the universal spirit of music.  Come celebrate with us!

TAFARI RELEASED ANOTHER SINGLE ON ITUNES FEAT DANCEHALL DIVA CECILE; MACKA DIAMOND SHOT BACK AT COW FOOT HATERS

Tafari released another single from his independent Rud3 Music LLC Label on Itunes.  The song is called ‘Cloud 9’ and is one of three songs to be officially released by the artiste.  The other singles are Money In My Pocket; which peaked at number 43 on Itunes US Top 100 Reggae Songs Chart and Heartbeat of the City Tafari’s most current release.  Videos for both Money In My Pocket and Heartbeat of the City are currently in rotation on several cable channels throughout the Caribbean.  Heartbeat of the City entered the CVM Hitlist Countdown Chart three weeks ago and now holds the #5 position.

International Female Rapper/DJ Macka Diamond said she was reliably informed that persons in the local industry have been publicly undermining her Cow Foot track.  Macka who is currently in Florida said she is not bothered by the fact that some people don’t like the song, “some think it’s hot and some not but that’s how it is, everybody naa go like everything you put out” but making public comments in an attempt to derail it’s growing popularity, “naa go mek it go away so easy” she said.

Macka said when she realized her Cow Foot track, “tek off” she was pleasantly surprise and in a press release, admitted that “young audience like music adults think is nonsensical” which explains why her, “silly song” as she refer to the track, took off.  So now the artiste shot back at the hater saying “fi know sey di one song have dem a talk up de tings dem is a clear signal dat it a beat dem bad lmao!”

GRAMPS MORGAN APOLOGIZES TO FANS FOR NON APPEARANCE AT REGGAE CONCERT IN TRINIDAD

Port of Spain, Trinidad - Singer Gramps Morgan and his management company Dadason Entertainment, would like to use this opportunity to respond to reports that were published in various news publications; including a story that was carried by the Trinidad Express Newspaper dated Sunday, May 30 with the headline “Stars fail to show at concert.” Gramps would like to clarify - for his fans and those who have come to love and respect his music over the years - the reason for the non- performing at the concert.

Here are the facts:

Reggae artist Gramps Morgan, along with Shaggy, Queen Ifrica, Beenie Man, Jah Cure, Rayvon and Machel Montano were billed to perform at the recently held ‘Reggae Meets Soca & Chutney’ concert at Queens Park Savannah, Port of Spain on Sunday, May 29. Gramps was present at the venue. He was ready to perform; unfortunately he did not perform because the event organizers IRAWMA, failed to honor their obligation as specified in the agreement. Gramps and his team had made several attempts to remedy the situation at the venue but no amicable agreement could be reached.

“I was looking forward to performing for my Trinidad & Tobago fans, unfortunately the promoters did not to honor their end of the agreement. I am disappointed that I did not get the opportunity to perform and for that I would like to say sorry to all my fans” Gramps stated.

FIRE BABYLON SCORES BIG AT REGGAE FILM FESTIVAL
FIRE in Babylon, a documentary on the all-conquering West Indies cricket team of the 1970s and '80s, was voted the Most Outstanding Film of the just-concluded Reggae Film Festival.

Produced by award-winning United Kingdom filmmakers John Battsek (One Day in September) and Charles Steel (Last King of Scotland), Fire in Babylon gives viewers "a mixture of sharp, inspiring and amusing tales that paint a picture of an extraordinary era when cricket evolved from a game to a revolutionary movement", the film's companion handbook explains.

The tales, it added, are delivered through the memories of the members of the team who are now regarded as legends.

"I learned something that I did not know before about West Indies cricket, in that the West Indies cricket team of the 1970s and '80s — led first by Clive Lloyd and then taken over by Sir Vivian Richards — in fact is the most successful team in the history of team sports, dominating world-class Test cricket for 15 years," admitted project consultant Colin Leslie.

"That is unprecedented in the history of team sports across the world," he added. "So the West Indies cricketers have that to their credit; something that very few West Indians know."

Leslie also claimed that the film has made serious inroads in England and "has become the most successful documentary in the film history of London".

According to Leslie, a number of universities have expressed an interest of screening the film for their students because of its motivational and inspirational value.

ON THIS DAY IN REGGAE
1976:  Soweto Uprising
1986:  One-day general strike in South Africa.

ANDRU BRANCH:ROCKSTEADY
Recorded at legendary Harry J Studio in Kingston, this single takes us back to the golden era of Jamaican music.  Featuring the original rocksteady drummer, Studio One pioneer, Soul Vendor Joe Isaacs, “Rocksteady” also features reggae Godfather Earl “Chinna” Smith on guitar.  Soaring saxophones, bubbling keyboards and playful harmonies paint a fun-filled soundscape for Andru Branch’s loving testimonial, reminiscent of the days of doo-wop.

Branch has been quietly working away at finishing his new album Step Into The Light, recorded with the illustrious Halfway Tree reggae band, featuring legendary Studio One bass player Brian “Bassie” Atkinson.

DEEPER COMMUNICATION
Once a human being has arrived on this earth, communication is the largest single factor determining what kinds of relationships he makes with others and what happens to him in the world about him."
