JAMAICAN SINGER-SONGWRITER DIANA KING RELEASES NEW ALBUM

Jamaican reggae fusion singer-songwriter Diana King released her new album AgirLnaMeKING on Tuesday, the same day she celebrated her 41st birthday.

King's new album was released on her own record label ThinkLikeAgirL Music and her latest work is set give her fans and music lovers an insight into her life and her contemporary yet deep-rooted Jamaican style.

"I have always believed in staying true to myself, as an artist and as a person, these new songs are 'imperfectly perfect' and they take you on a musical journey and show my versatility" King said via a press release.
And stay true King did.

On AgirLnaMeKING, she continued to fuse her Jamaican dialect with Reggae, R&B, Soul, Dance and Pop. This unique trademark is what made King stand out as an artist when she recorded her first hit single "Shy Guy," which was co-written and produced by Andy Marvel from her debut album "Tougher Than Love." That single was a hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 13 and certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

"Shy Guy," which sold five million singles worldwide, also reached No. 2 on the UK Singles chart and No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.
The song was listed on the soundtrack for the 1995 film "Bad Boys."

AgirLnaMeKING began as a journey toward healing for King who has overcome her fight with multiple sclerosis. The disease threatened to end her career, but King fought and immersed herself in writing and producing music, which she found therapeutic and inspiring.

King went on to receive ProTools certification and built a home studio. Then in 2010, she launched her label ThinkLikeAgirL Music.
AgirLnaMeKING has a collection of 13 songs that were narrowed down from 100 of which King wants to share.

The lead single is called YU DUN KNO (which means You Already Know) and it features Indian artist GUNJAN. It is the only track on the album that is co-written and co-produced by King, Handel Tucker and Paul Kastick. This single brings together a mixture of King's Jamaican, African and Indian heritage.

"Music was my therapy and I spent every waking minute in the studio, firstly as a way to distract myself from what I was feeling physically, but by the time I came up for air I had written over a hundred songs and I felt great!" King said.

King compares herself to a long distance runner and said AgirLnaMeKING is her 'second wind'

"I know it's been a long time since my last album and it's been challenging to say the least, but I appreciate your patience and I am humbled by your loyalty, because there's no me without you," King said to her fans.

JAMAICA: CALI P ARRESTED
PATRONS waited in vain on Friday night for new act Cali P to take to the stage at the weekly live music session Plug N Play at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel.

The artiste never made it to the venue as earlier that evening he was arrested by the police and slapped with two charges — possession of ganja and possession of stolen property.
CALI P... incident a misunderstanding set in motion by a series of unfortunate events
A release from the singer states that he was unable to make it to Friday's gig as he was taken into custody by Jamaican police and slapped with the charges, but adds that "a misunderstanding set in motion by a series of unfortunate events."

Cali P says one week ago he purchased the phone from someone not knowing that it had been stolen. A friend of the female who owned the phone found Cali P on the night of the event, and explained the situation to him. Cali P says arrangements were made to deal with the issue. However, the police had already been contacted and when they arrived, they searched Cali P and found a small quantity of ganja and that led to his subsequent arrest on the two charges.

Cali P has apologised to his supporters, especially those who went to the Hilton Kingston on Friday for the performance for which he was a no-show. He says he has already contacted legal representation and is now working to resolve the issue.

The artiste only recently returned to the island after what he described as a "successful" tour of Europe.

The artiste is also glowing over the great response to the release of this second album Unstoppable produced by Riga on the Hemp Higher label. The album was released on October 7 and reached No 2 in the top 10 reggae albums in Canada and No 7 in the US on the iTunes charts.
"The single D'Sunne Schiint from the Unstoppable album reached No 1 on iTunes Swiss reggae song charts and was No 1 in the German video charts the day it was released, so it is a real blessing, the international response has been phenomenal so far," Cali P said in a release.

DON CARLOS -- TOURING NORTH AMERICA FEBRUARY / MARCH 2012
Don Carlos is a classic reggae act with his consistent band, his horn section and his strong catalog of songs. His live show is in great demand worldwide. Don spent six years as the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru from 1989 to 1994, during which he toured and put out four albums with Black Uhuru -- Now, Mystical Truths, Iron Storm and Strong.
Now back with his solo career, Don's shows consistently pull strong numbers in North America, South America, Europe and Africa. His CD's also continue to sell strong number s, while with the CD market down 85 percent, most of the other artists these days don't sell many units.

Don's schedule of live shows is very busy. He recently returned from a September / October European tour, where he was again well received. Before that he was touring North America as a special guest with Slightly Stupid. Prior to that in June 2011 he did some western U.S. dates on his own including the Reggae in the Desert festival, in Los Vegas and also a big double bill show with Junior Reid at 4th and B in San Diego. Last winter Don performed on the Southern CA Raggamuffin shows in Long Beach and San Diego. That was a tribute to Don, since normally they don't repeat acts, and Don was on the shows the year before as well. A lot of the festivals host Don Carlos year after year. Last March, Don toured South America.

SHERIETA PLAYING FOR CHANGE IN BRAZIL
Upcoming Reggae Singer/Songwriter, Sherieta is now in Brazil, ‘playing for change’ with Playing For Change. PFC is a world-based foundation dedicated to connecting the world through music and creating positive social change through music education.  Sherieta was one of the artistes discovered when the team visited Jamaica a few years ago.

Noting that her first participation in the project was mere coincidence, she confirmed that she had actually gone to do background vocals, but was then asked to be part of the programme.

The tour of Brazil will take place over two weeks and will visit Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre.  The group will also perform at the SWU Festival and the Planeta Brazil Festival.

Playing for change began a decade ago as a small ground of documentary film-makers began with a dream to create a film rooted in the music of the streets.  According to their website, the dream has been realized and has also blossomed into a global sensation, including musicians of every level of renown that has touched the lives of millions of people around the world.

The project aims to develop new music schools and programmes in new regions, expand the opportunities and resources available in communities in need and to be an access point for various forms of aid, including clean water, electricity and medical resources. Their albums have also featured other Jamaican artistes such as Junior Gong, Stephen Marley and Toots Hibbert.

Black Jaguar : : Man From Strat
Black Jaguar had this to say about his new album Man From Strat:

"I'm really proud of all the songs on my albums.  However unlike Paw Of A Jag where I was finding myself, I totally immersed myself into Man From Strat and I hope the maturity shows.

The inspiration for my albums and songs come from my love of music and the art form soca. Though I experimented with other genres of music on this album particularly with Drowning On A Rising Sun, I wanted to stay true to my Caribbean roots and culture.

I totally love the response from fans as they have been quite supportive and so looking forward to getting out there to perform and promote the full album.

I'm thankful for support from Team Jaguar, the DJ's and radio stations who play my music, the fans who listen, and those that also purchase my music, you are the ones that make it all possible.   PAWS UP!"

If you wish, and we really wish you wouldn't, like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE in subject line.

It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows. Your call…..
