SOLA ROSA - REGGAE/FUNK/LATIN/JAZZ/HIP-HOP FUSION MULTI AWARD-WINNING NEW ZEALAND SENSATION BRINGS U.S. TOUR TO TAHOE

South Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Live at Blu Nightclub - MontBleu Casino Resort

Saturday, December 3, 2011

LAKE TAHOE, NV – MontBleu Casino Resort and PR Entertainment, Inc presents New Zealand’s Music Award-Winning sensation, Sola Rosa, who will perform their amazing Reggae/Funk/Jazz/Latin/Hip-Hop Fusion, Saturday, December 3, 2011, inside Blu Nightclub at MontBleu Resort.

Tickets are just $7.00, or $5.00 for locals and FREE for all local Ski Resort Employees, as MontBleu welcomes winter and all ski resort industry employees to the Lake Tahoe basin.  Tickets are available at the door only.  9p doors.  Must be 21.

Acclaimed New Zealand combo SOLA ROSA will bring their groovalicious blend of hip hop, reggae, jazz, Latin, soul and funk to lucky U.S. audiences for the first time this winter, via a series of tour dates just announced.

Starting November 29th, frontman Andrew Spraggon will take the stage alongside Spikey Tee (Jah Wobble, Mr. Scruff, Bomb the Bass) and Lila Tomlins (Kiwi vocal sensation) for a Sound System tour of ten North American cities, beginning in New York, NY and ending in Ensenada, Mexico. SOLA ROSA is ready to prove to the U.S. audience that they have that special element it takes to make it in the ever-growing musical world.

SOLA ROSA’s debut North American album, Get It Together, was recently released on October 11th, 2011, and already garnered a mention in the Village Voice, a single premiere for “Turn Around” in Baeble Music, and a video premiere for the same song on PopMatters. This is not surprising, as the album has stayed at #1 in NZ for over four months.

SOLA ROSA frontman Andrew Spraggon ignores the niceties of genre boundaries and opts instead to blend his diverse influences into an otherworldly aural experience. Since 1999 he has been honing his craft by keeping good company on the road and in the studio, eventually earning himself a nomination for Best Producer at the Vodafone NZ Music Awards in 2006 and 2009. Get It Together was nominated for Best Electronica Album, and the album’s second single, ‘Turn Around’, was nominated for Best Video.

While Sola Rosa’s first three albums undoubtedly cast Spraggon as one of New Zealand’s finest purveyors of downbeat-electronica – something that was backed up by a raft of accolades including a NZ Music Award for 2001’s Solarized, and b-net awards for 2000’s Entrance To Skyway and 2003’s Haunted Out-takes – his fourth long player, 2005s Moves On, saw a change in tact. Not content to simply stay within the bounds of any one genre, Spraggon expanded the Sola Rosa sound, incorporating more live instrumentation and adding a healthy dollop of funk, soul and reggae to an already considerable list influences. The new direction not only reinvigorated the Rosa sound, but earned Spraggon another nomination for Best Dance/Electronic album at the 2006 NZ Music Awards.

Despite the rapturous reception that all six of Sola Rosa’s releases have garnered, it’s Spraggon’s latest album, Get It Together, which has so successfully captured the breadth of his vision and piqued the most interest from record labels, artists and fans the world over.

Sola Rosa will be performing live at MontBleu’s Blu Nightclub, Saturday, December 3, 2011.  Doors open 9p.  Tickets are available at the door for $7.00, locals are $5.00, and all ski resort employees get in for FREE. (with employee ID).  For more information visit www.solarosa.com, www.PREpresents.com, or www.MontBleuResort.com

Reggae Artist Barrington Levy Releases "Love me like this" Featuring Heavy D

The legendary superstar has done it again. A new single off his upcoming album 'It's About Time', Barrington Levy releases one of his latest hits 'Love me like this" ft Heavy 'D.'Love Me Like This was recorded in California in 2010 where when both icons came together to make this reggae tune. The song speaks of a girl's love, with Barrington Levy's strong vocals resounding off the soothing reggae rhythm.

Combined with the late and iconic Heavy D vocals, the two artists have created a true recipe for a hit track. With Heavy D's recent passing, Barrington Levy sends his condolences to the family, as he wishes to show his respect by sharing the work that they did together and the magic they created with the rest of the world.

Caesar Augustus, creative director at Augustus Films & Aura Media Group is producing Barrington's music video entitled “Healthy,” featuring Damien Marley. Augustus also also directed Barrington's last video “No War”, featuring Konvict's artist Kardinal Offishall in early February in Philadelphia, Pa.

“Healthy” goes into production mid January 2012 and is set to be his first single of his new Album. The music video will be filmed near Levy's hometown in Jamaica. “A raw, original reggae look is what I am looking for and Jamaica can give us the look we need. DON CARLOS - Front Line - Prophecy - Zion Train - available Feb / March on tour

Contact: Peter Wardle

King's Music International

Phone: (510) 326-8445 or email: reggaeangl@aol.comhttp://www.kingsmusicinternational.com

Don Carlos is a classic reggae act with his consistent band, his horn section and his strong catalog of songs. His live show is in great demand worldwide. Don spent six years as the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru from 1989 to 1994, during which he toured and put out four albums with Black Uhuru -- Now, Mystical Truths, Iron Storm and Strong.

Now back with his solo career, Don's shows consistently pull strong numbers in North America, South America, Europe and Africa. His CD's also continue to sell strong number s, while with the CD market down 85 percent, most of the other artists these days don't sell many units.

Don's schedule of live shows is very busy. He recently returned from a September / October European tour, where he was again well received. Before that he was touring North America as a special guest with Slightly Stupid. Prior to that in June 2011 he did some western U.S. dates on his own including the Reggae in the Desert festival, in Los Vegas and also a big double bill show with Junior Reid at 4th and B in San Diego. Last winter Don performed on the Southern CA Raggamuffin shows in Long Beach and San Diego. That was a tribute to Don, since normally they don't repeat acts, and Don was on the shows the year before as well. A lot of the festivals host Don Carlos year after year. Last March, Don toured South America.

March, 2010 Don toured Europe, and in April and May 2010 he toured South America and Africa. His show at the Kasarani Sports Grounds in Nairobi Kenya Sunday May 30th 2010 made history, drawing the second biggest crowd ever for a reggae show since the Bob Marley performance at the Zimbabwe Independence ceremony - 110,000 people.

In his music, Don speaks for all people. He sings about peace and love, generosity and righteousness. He doesn't leave out thanking Jah for everything. "I love you and Jah loves you more", he says. "Love Jah, and you will have everything -- all wisdom." Don has a big heart and a kind loving spirit. He is a special artist. Because of his blessings, the multitudes are drawn to him.

JaRIA Has Stronger Voice ..... with a New Board of Directors

By: Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter

With a new board of directors in place, chairman and executive director of the Jamaica Reggae Industry association (JaRIA), Charles Campbell, says the organisation is now an umbrella entity that is representative of Jamaica's music industry.

Campbell said the three-year-old organisation chose its new directors less than two weeks ago; increasing the number from 11 to 15. On this new board, he says there will be representatives from different groups such as the Jamaica Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers' Vernal 'Junior' Weir; a representative of the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes & Affiliates', Frankie Campbell O.D.; a representative of the Sound Systems Association, Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell; and a representative of Manifesto Jamaica, Rupert Abishai Hoilett.

The other directors on the board are K. Michael 'Ibo' Cooper O.D., J.P. (chairman), Charles H.E. Campbell (vice-chairman/executive director), Junior Lincoln, Mary Isaacs Black, Stephen Stewart J.P., L. Nichole Brown, Coleen Douglas, Paul Love, Shani Nembhard, Deleon 'Jubba' White, and Carol Lawrence.

lobbing for participation

Charles Campbell said JaRIA had been lobbying since March to get the other groups involved in the organisation's decision-making process.

"To truly become representative of the industry, to truly reflect the concept of being an umbrella organisation, we thought it was important to have all the other organisations have a place on the board. We certainly think that when addressing issues, the viewpoints of the various subgroups will be represented at that level," he told The Sunday Gleaner.

He added that this will make the body more objective when making decisions.

"Now when we address issues, there is unity, and with that unity comes a stronger voice. We can claim to represent all the interests of the music and entertainment industry," he said.

Founder Of Jamaica Reggae, Rocksteady Trio Dies

KINGSTON, Jamaica — One of the founders of a leading Jamaican reggae and rocksteady trio from the 1960s has died.

A bandmate says Barry Llewellyn of the Heptones died Wednesday at age 64. Lead singer Leroy Sibbles said Friday that Llewellyn died of unknown causes at Kingston Public Hospital.

Llewellyn founded the Heptones with Earl Morgan in the late 1950s. The group was considered highly influential during the island’s rocksteady era in the 1960s.

The Heptones reunited in the 1990s after a nearly 20-year absence during a worldwide ska and rocksteady revival.

Llewellyn is survived by his wife, Monica, and several children.

Bayside Rocks, reggae festival in Miami, has been postponed

Luciano

Luciano

Bayside Rocks, an all-day reggae festival planned for Saturday at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, has been postponed because of “unforeseen circumstances,” spokeswoman Violet Tafari said.

The festival was to feature several performers, including Luciano, The Original Wailers, Cultura Profetica and Pato Banton.

A news release issued Friday said festival organizers were forced to postpone after headliner Bunny Wailer canceled all his tour dates due to “an undisclosed medical condition” and a second headliner, Luciano, could not travel to the U.S. for legal reasons.

Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales and food drive will benefit Curley’s House, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-to-moderate income individuals, families, elderly, at-risk youths, the abused and HIV/AIDS-infected individuals.

Tafari did not say when the concert will be rescheduled.

Cosmo Jarvis :: Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange

Cosmo276-300*180

Following two sold-out shows during his visit to Australia last month, Gay Pirates singer Cosmo Jarvis is set to release his new single She Doesn’t Mind, taken from his acclaimed album Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange?, on November 25.

Jarvis has directed and produced the video for his latest track; a reggae-tinged outing extolling the virtues of a tri-lingual, trombone-toting girlfriend.

The singer is also in the middle of shooting his first full-length feature film, which he has also produced and written. Called Naughty Room, Jarvis describes it as being about parenting, as well as taking responsibility to better yourself.

“The hardest part of making this film was not being older,” he said.

“People just don’t want to deal with you in a professional manner if you’re young. But truly the worst part was hearing Mr Spielberg was up on the Dartmoor, our local beauty spot, making War Horse with a crew of fuckloads, rather than two Volkswagen Golfs.”

If you wish, and we really wish you wouldn't, like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE in subject line.

It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows. Your call?..
