Happy New Year!

Breathe, you can relax now...yoga heals us

Thought for Today

Celebrate the Journey

by Danna Faulds

Who knows why life unfolds

the way it does; why we choose

one path or another, share the

way for a while or a day, then

say goodbye.  There is no

predictability here, and less

control than we might wish.

But there is the quiet urging

of the heart, the knowing in

the soul, the wisdom that's

beneath the mind, accessible

if we breathe and turn inside.

When the tide of change rolls

in, we can resist or be at peace,

struggle or release.  The stuff

of life may not be ours to

understand.  It's enough to

offer love, to receive the best

and worst, to embrace and

say farewell.  What matters

most is to celebrate each

moment of the journey.

YogaHub's Sneak Peek Preview Event

I'm excited to be teaching at YogaHub's next annual Virtual Yoga and Meditation conference next February. But you don't have to wait that long to join in the fun...

YogaHub is offering 3 special complimentary sessions where you can meet some of the teachers, try out the virtual format, and learn new yoga and meditation tips.

Best of all, this pre-conference event won't cost you a dime!

Click here to check it out

Look for more to come on the big virtual conference coming up in February 2012. For now, get a head start and take advantage of this sneak peek!

Be well,

Karen O'Donnell Clarke

PS. You can also win some great prizes and the entire 2011 conference!   Click here for info.

Also, you can purchase individual sessions from the last conference.  For example, last year I presented two workshops - Chair Yoga Basics and Chair Yoga Flows.  This year I'm presenting Fun with Chair Sun Salutations.  If you are interested in my work with chair yoga, then you can download the workshops from last year and then participate live this year.  There are lots of great speakers and topics of interest.  The price is a lot lower than last year.  And if you jump on this right away, at half price, the whole conference costs the same as a private yoga lesson or class series.  And the information available is so interesting!

You’ll receive over 50 hours of high-quality content. To attend an onsite conference of this caliber, you would easily spend over $1,000 (when you take into account registration, travel, lodging, food and, if you’re self-employed, the lost income while you’re away.)

For $129 – the complete cost to attend the Virtual World Yoga Conference – you’re spending about $2.60 per hour to learn from our expert faculty from around the world (50 hours of content divided by the registration fee)

For a limited time, get an even better deal—register for the 2012 conference today at less than 1/4 the price of last year’s tuition. That’s less than the cost of a meal for two with a decent bottle of wine.

We can give you so much value for such a small investment because we don’t have to fly speakers in from all over the globe, there’s no huge faculty overhead or rent, and we don’t have to feed you! This ground-breaking virtual learning space gives you the freedom to participate in a wellness conference that’s not burdened with the high cost of running an onsite event.

Chakra Yoga Workshop January 14th

The Essence of Mind-Body Health

Preston, Connecticut

The chakras are a psychological, philosophical and spiritual framework for human evolution and development.  Originating in the Indian subcontinent thousands of years ago, the chakras are an important road map for our life journey as we evolve from basic needs toward more subtle and spiritual aspirations.  Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means "wheel" and refers to centers of energy or vital life force within the body.  There are seven main chakras that align with the human spine and many smaller ones throughout the body.  These centers receive, store, and distribute energy to specific parts of the mind-body.  Each of the chakra energies has a theme or core intention.  Hatha yoga practices including asana and pranayama are seen as vehicles for opening, aligning, and balancing the chakras.  Chakra practice is a key foundation of the study of Yoga.

In this workshop, you'll be introduced to the chakras as a system for self-understanding and personal healing.  This workshop is part lecture, part practice.  All levels welcome.  Asana modifications will be offered as needed.

On the Book Shelf

I recently read Danna Fauld's memoir, Into the Heart of Yoga One Woman's Journey.  I laughed, I cried, I couldn't put it down.  This memoir is at times heart wrenching and inspiring.  Danna's quest for authenticity and willingness to be present with difficult topics is refreshing and at time awe inspiring.  This memoir is Danna's story and some of her husband's as well.  And much of this memoir involves Danna and her huband's Kripalu experiences over the course of nearly 30 years.  Danna provides unique insights through her lived experiences into the roller coaster transformation of Kripalu from a guru-disciple community to it's current status of the largest yoga education center in the U.S.  What makes this books so special to me is that I was there when Danna read some of her poetry at various KYTA conferences.  To learn the back story makes these memories even more special.  This is a must read for any one interested in the journey of transformation through the eyes of one woman.  And a must read for any one interested or practicing Kripalu yoga.

Danna is also an accomplished poet, which you will learn about in reading the memoir.  Her poetry speaks to the yogi in all of us.
