The last two weekends the keelboat boat captains have been very busy opening up and working on special projects to prepare the keelboats for this year’s sailing season, and there is still a lot of work to do. This Saturday, March 31st, is shrink wrap removal day, weather permitting, and the boat captains need your help. We will be removing the shrink wrap, bundling it up for disposal, removing the support lumber and tubing and hauling those items to the sail garage for storage.
Please plan on coming out and helping your boat captains prepare the boats for the 2012 sailing season, you can contact the boat captains and let them know you will be out or just come on out - plan to arrive at Jefferson Beach by 9:30 a.m. Jefferson Beach Marina is located on Jefferson Ave (Nautical Mile) between 9 mile and 10 mile. The marina is gated so you will need a gate code to enter, the codes are changed weekly during the season, for pre-season entry please use code 0347, until we can get the weekly codes out to you.
We only have a few Saturdays left before we launch the boats on Tuesday April 24th. There will be additional information in next week’s Burgee regarding the upcoming keelboat work days for April and early May for both your volunteer hours and student class (maintenance) requirements.
