Thank You Looking Good Santa Barbara Volunteers!

On June 2nd, 475 volunteers spread out through our neighborhoods to donate their time to the Looking Good Santa Barbara Community Clean-Up!

Volunteers planted street trees, removed graffiti, helped with weed abatement, picked up litter, and much more!

The Creeks Division worked with four volunteers to clean-up Old Mission Creek at Bohnett Park, where they removed 75 lbs of trash and debris from the creek.

Another 15 volunteers helped replace 100 storm drain markers in the neighborhood surrounding Ortega Park.

Mission Creek Project at the Caltrans Channel Continues

Contractors are hard at work finishing up the Mission Creek Restoration and Fish Passage Project at the Upper Caltrans Channel. Approximately 90% of the project was constructed last summer, while the final 10% is being completed now.

Expected to be finished by mid-July, the project includes the installation of a four foot wide, three foot deep low flow channel designed to allow endangered Southern California Steelhead Trout to migrate upstream during rain events.
