New Record "Reggae Music Lives" Available Now on iTunes. |

Atlanta, GA, April 23, 2012 With a mission to heal the world through music, Soul Train Award nominee, Gramps Morgan unleashes his second, solo, album Reggae Music Lives tomorrow (April 24th) on iTunes, independently, on his Dada Son Entertainment label. A musical therapy of sorts, Reggae Music Lives is filled with angelic harmonies, authentic compositions and a unique sound brand, Gramps calls "Rockaz". Reggae Music Lives is more than Reggae; it's world-beat, with a little bit of country, a taste of what Americans call rap-Jamaicans call it toasting; mix it with a hint of r 'n' b, a dash of blues synthesized with contemporary reggae that maintains the integrity of the original art form and you get a sense of the musical accents that help to make Reggae Music Livescomplete.
After two years in the making, Reggae Music Lives arrives with inspiration, healing and Gramps' determination to make positive changes in the world. The album's first single 'The Almighty' topped the charts in Jamaica, South Florida and New York while 'Life Too Short', released on March 28th, advanced in the fight for justice in the case of Trayvon Martin. Consequently, team Dada Son decided to donate part of the sale proceeds to the family of the slain Florida teenager. The song has since been added to the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation website (http://justicetm.org/tributes/) where he is listed as an "Official Donor" for his commitment.
Meanwhile, Mark Brantley, Senior Lawyer and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament of St. Kitts and Nevis says: "There is no voice in reggae music today as distinctive as that of Gramps Morgan. His sophomore album reminds us of the deeply spiritual roots of reggae music. Gramps' ability to make music with a global appeal which touches the human spirit and soothes the soul has been taken to new heights in his latest release. I believe that this new effort by this Grammy award winning artist will be a major hit with lovers of conscious reggae music the world over. But don't take my word for it. Pick up a copy, put your feet up and let the music wash over you."
|
One of the most promising tracks on the album, DREAM, is as inspiring as it is universal, in message and in sound. When Gramps sings "...celebrate wherever you are, keep on striving for your dream, just lift your head high, let your spirit fly, dream away..." one is reminded to persevere; the song offers hope and is that motivator everyone needs.
Reggae Music Lives is about the preservation of art, music and culture and Gramps wants the world to know that "Reggae music is here to stay."

The Wailers w/special guest UpRising
Live at MontBleu Casino Resort |

LAKE TAHOE, NV – MontBleu and PR Entertainment presents The Wailers, Wednesday, June 6, 2012. General admission tickets will be available for $30 by calling MontBleu, 775-588-3515, at the Box Office, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Reggae music has never stopped evolving but for millions of people from around the world it’s still defined by the songs of Bob Marley and the Wailers. It’s been their heartbeat rhythms that have inspired so much of what’s followed since, as evidenced by the enduring popularity of the “one-drop” reggae sound.
The history of the band during Marley’s lifetime is well known. Just to recap, their music has sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide. In England alone, they’ve notched up over twenty chart hits, including seven Top 10 entries. This was no accident. Apart from Marley, the Wailers have performed with international acts such as Sting, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, as well as reggae legends Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Burning Spear. Their most recent collaborators include Kenny Chesney, Eve, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. They’ve also completed innumerable tours over the years, playing to an estimated 24 million people across the globe, including groundbreaking performances in Africa and the Far East.
Break the bonds of complacency and continue the path to musical bliss. UpRISE, beyond your normal music splendor.

New Album and Tour by International Reggae Singer and Bass Player KOXX...Based in Paris, France |
Koxx was born in Clarendon, Jamaica into a musical family. He spent his formative years surrounded by uncles, all of whom played the guitar and were singers in their own right. So it was not surprising when he started making his own guitars, trying to emulate this family tradition.
Upon entering high school he met Gerald Anderson, a music teacher, who saw his interest in wanting to learn an instrument. He started giving him the foundations of bass playing, and gave him his first bass guitar. This quickly bore fruit as Koxx’s bass playing became a regular part of school life. He managed to make a name for himself, representing his school on annual school festivals and performing at numerous concerts and school functions. He was voted and won a prize for best performance in music. With the collaboration of other upcoming musical talents the stage was now set, the new generation of Jamaican musicians was there and Koxx rose to the challenge.
Leaving high school, he followed a few friends to the Edna Manley School of the Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica. There he worked with Maurice Gordon, one of Jamaica’s top jazz guitarists. This opened his mind to a new world of musical ideas: Changing his life forever and it did not take long before he was working with artists such as Freddie McGregor, The Mighty Diamonds, members of the Heptones, Winston Jarrett and Max Romeo. Over time touring with these artist became more and more regular. This was the final stage of development: The real world of the music business. The university in which he has learnt and polished his skills, taking some thing away from each and every artist he has worked with, and making it his own.
In 2000, he moved to Paris, France. Searching for new challenges and motivation Koxx started composing and writing songs, encouraged by friends and family, found his true calling He has composed songs such as « It go so » (Pierpoljak), « Mama Earth » and «Cool Higher » with Yaniss Odua, « Golden Doudou » with Matinda, Chéché Sav » with MC Janik and Jocelyne Berouard. He has played so many bass lines with so many artists it’s hard to mention… As cofounder of « My Band » and bass player, koxx has worked with the poll of best artists France has got to offer Some of the artists include Pierpoljak, Neg Marron, Princesse Erika, Tonton David, Admiral T, Yaniss Odua, NTM, Daddy Nuttea, Daddy Mory, Mc Janik, Diams, Jacob Devarieux. In the meantime he has also worked with Jamaican atists, Tanya Stephens, Capleton, Junior Kelly, Derrick Morgan, Bushman, The Congoes and Jah Mason.
Koxx is indeed an original artist banked on years of experience in all aspects of the music business. A singer, songwriter, composer, musician extraordinary.

Bruno Mars Just the Way You Are (Reggae Cover Jimi D)
Video Link: http://youtu.be/dwh2LKsGAVM
When VP Records heard Jimi D’s rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are”, they could not resist licensing the song and adding it to their compilation. The one-drop beat undoubtedly transformed the pop hit sensation, garnering almost quarter of a million Youtube hits (collectively) in a few months of it’s release.
Jimi D (Christopher Chambers), with his distinctly smooth, soothing voice, has been the background vocalist who has helped to elevated many successful musicians to another level in their careers. Born August 25, in Kingston, Jamaica, music was always a natural part of Jimi D’s upbringing. As a child, his uncle, legendary reggae artist, Don Carlos, would frequently encourage him to sing “Dancing on the Ceiling” by Lionel Richie. Although this irritated Jimi D, his mannerly upbringing would not allow him to complain. Instead, he willingly complied with his uncle’s wishes, not knowing he was secretly exploring his artistic abilities.
Jimi D’s childhood desire was to become a doctor, but this desire eventually became overshadowed by his innate musical abilities. At the age of twelve, Jimi D and his friend’s, Marquis Henry and Jervell Creory, formed a group. Their first song, composed by Jimi D, entitled “Baby” was a hit amongst their peers. Yet the opportunity to launch his musical career did not manifest itself. Still, he remained fervent to his dreams, constantly rehearsing and writing.
Whilst a part of a group called BKS, Jimi D came close to being signed to Def Jam Records. But the group lacked maturity and did not succeed. After years of singing background vocals and gaining a deeper respect for the music industry, the opportune time presented itself to launch his long awaited solo career under the artiste name, Jimi D, with the assistance of his uncle, Don Carlo, who equipped him with the skills and network he needed.
To date Jimi D has shared the stage with well-known artists such as Freddie McGregor, Eeka Mouse, Andrew Tosh, Marcia Griffiths, Gregory Isaacs and Shaddon Tucker to name just a few. In 2012 Jimi will embark on a US tour to promote his forthcoming single releases, which is expected to have collaborations with well-known Jamaican artistes. Jimi D is also preparing for the launch of his untitled debut album, something he hopes will reflect not only his authentic Jamaican origins, but also incorporate some elements of music that has influenced him over the years such as pop and R&B.

Born in Roseau, Dominica before the Bob Marley Days of reggae, Rocket blasted onto the American scene back in the 70's as a bassist and vocalist for the New York based band, Moja Nya. After Moja Nya, Rocket has been fronting the very popular Chicago based band, Gizzae for the last 20 years.
Now, Rocket is starting his own thing and is looking very forward to making a sunsplash on the worldwide reggae scene.
This multi-instrumentalist has just finished his debut solo cd, with the help of the internet and some his musician friends. Aswad, Third World, Steel Pulse and Bob Marley are some of the major influences as you will quickly tell from the heavy bass lines and drums, horns and harmonies.
With lyrics that tackle our complex world coupled with infectious melodies, this new cd ‘Hang in There” will have you singing, dancing and humming along to the Reggae and Caribbean beats. Rock has been pulling double-duty singing and playing bass for the last 30 years and he wouldn't have it any other way.
“I am at peace when I'm performing. Music is in my blood - There's no way for I to stop it from flowing”

If you wish, and we really wish you wouldn't, like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE in subject line.
It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows. Your call?.. |
