Dub Nation Long Awaited Record Release

Reggae aficionados will travel with delight on the new trail blazed by Dub Nation’s long-awaited third album, Rising Force for Change. Producer, bassist and Dub Nation mainstay Frank "Fantom” Caruso has set forth on an innovative path mixing elements of soul, jazz, hip-hop, rock and even big band, with traditional roots reggae rhythms. Caruso’s time with Motown legends The Temptations resulted in joining forces with Spinners and Temptations’ leading voice GC Cameron and Guadeloupe native Tatiana Miath, a world-class female vocal talent heralded in Europe and the Caribbean.

GC’s 1970s Motown hits It’s a Shame and It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday are re-created in a fresh and powerful style coined “Reggae-Soul,” and are lovingly ornamented with Tatiana’s sweet harmonies and a veritable orchestra of master musicians including many San Francisco Bay area Dub Nation veterans such as original lead vocalist Paul “Fish” Dawson, who provides a colorful accent to the vocal trio. Rising Force for Change never relents from its inspirational prelude to the tasty dub mix conclusion:  a judicious blend of rock, soul and reggae.

Dub Nation returns to Festival stages this summer supporting the release of its long-awaited album Rising Force for Change, and renews its musical vows after a lengthy hiatus.

Next Weekend!

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival kicks off next weekend, June 22-24, at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located in Boonville, California.  Sierra Nevada features 3 days of the best in roots reggae and world music taking place on two stages, with a late-night "Jamaican style" dancehall.

In addition to more than three dozen bands, the 19th annual Summer Solstice and World Peace Celebration also includes an extensive schedule of children's and cultural activities, arts and crafts, an international food court, family and alter-able camping and vendors galore.  With beautiful streaming colors and exotic aromas, the festival village is an attractive marketplace of food and craft booths created by the collective efforts of artists, vendors, staff, volunteers and ticket buyers that has something to offer children of all ages.

The outspoken voice of England's Linton Kwesi Johnson will be performing backed by the mighty Dennis Bovell Dub Band.  UK dubbers Zion Train will also be coming to rock Boonville as will David "Ram Jam" Rodigan who recently had the Most Excellent Order of the British (MBE) bestowed upon him by Queen Elizabeth.  The  Maoris of New Zealand will be represented by Katchafire and House of Shem.  From the islands of Hawaii come Iration, Fiji and J Boog.  Hailing from the fertile soil of Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley, Indubious will be coming to spread high vibes while California will be well represented courtesy of Jah Sun, Dub Nation, Rocker-T, Afrolicious, AfroMassive and LoCura.  Additional world music will be featured by GlobeSonic Sound System and Miami's Locos Por Juana. The masses of Sierra Nevada are in for a special treat when Chile's #1 party band, Chico Trujillo, takes to the stage on Sunday.

Living the Adventure

“I do not accept any absolute formulas for living. No preconceived code can see ahead to everything that can happen in a man’s life. As we live, we grow and our beliefs change. They must change. So I think we should live with this constant discovery. We should be open to this adventure in heightened awareness of living. We should stake our whole existence on our willingness to explore and experience.”

We produce the annual Reggae Festival Guide print magazine (now approaching its 18th year), the top-ranking website: www.ReggaeFestivalGuide.com, and this weekly reggae newsletter: The Reggae E-Guide has just under 40,000 weekly subscribers.

The newest addition to our media family is our Reggae Guide for iPhone, one of the world´s first reggae specific iphone applications. It can be downloaded on iTunes for only .99 cents!

We love what we do and look forward to input from you with your suggestions, critiques, questions, etc. Also contact us to find out how you can promote your band/business in this newsletter.

If you wish, and we really wish you wouldn't, like to be removed from this list, please reply with REMOVE in subject line.

It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows. Your call...
