Glass Studio News:

A few notes to take us through the end of the year and a sneak peak into 2013.

Fall 2012

The year isn't over but as I look ahead, I also reflect back on the year's events to date. I'll hit some of the highlights. The year started out with a show at the Bullseye Gallery in Portland, Oregon. The Collage/Montage class at my studio in May, brought students from as far away as California and Canada. In July, I completed a commission for a Fortune 500 Company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I recently attended a professional residency in New Mexico.

I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted into the prestigious Smithsonian Craft Show for 2013. See details below.

For the last year, I have worked with mixed media sculptor, Joan Danziger to include glass in in her upcoming museum show. The show opens November 3rd at the Katzen Museum at American University.

There will be more travel in 2013. I'll be teaching courses at studios throughout the US. See the preview below. When I'm home, I'll focus on making new work as well as working with students privately in my Silver Spring studio.

Last but not least, I have created a facebook studio page. This is where I will post new work, studio news and events in addition to my quarterly newsletters.

There's so much to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to being home for the holidays and the months of studio time ahead. Visitors are welcome. Please call or email to arrange a studio visit.

This international invitational/juried residency took place in early October at Santa Fe and Abiquiu. The residency was enriching and it was a thrill to be immersed in the color and vibrancy of the landscape which has inspired artists I admire.

Upcoming Class -FULL

I will be teaching for the first time at HotGlassHouston, November 9-12. The course is called The World of Painting with the Infinite Possibilities of Glass. There will be an artist talk on Friday, November 9 at 7pm. The talk is open to the public; reservations are strongly suggested as seating is limited.

Open Studio Sessions and Studio Classes

Open Studio sessions will resume in early 2013. Dates will be announced shortly. The sessions will be on Friday afternoons as usual and will likely be twice monthly rather than weekly.

Many local people are asking for classes. I will be available January through March. I can create custom classes for individuals or small groups. Please let me know of your interest for a class or open studio.

2013 Smithsonian Craft Show

I am one of 12 people chosen to exhibit in the glass category at the prestigious Smithsonian Craft Show. The show takes place at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. The Dates are April 25-28, 2013. 121 artists were chosen out of more than 1200 applicants.
