The Reggae Festival Guide at the Soul Train Awards

Reggae Journalist Shelah Moody caught up with actress Claudia Jordan (recently seen on  "Celebrity Apprentice")  rising R&B star Marcus Canty and Jamaican star Rachel Baker, former host of BET's"Caribbean Rhythms"  and "Planet Groove" at the taping of the Soul Train Music Awards 2012  at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.  As you know, through "Caribbean Rhythms," Rachel was one of the first to showcase contemporary reggae artists and air their videos on a major American network in the nineties. Rachels' fab. sister, Lindsay Stuart, is also doing big things in the music industry. The winners of the Soul Train Awards were announced on BET, Thanksgiving Day, November 22.

Early Bird Special on Reggae Festival Guide Magazine ~ Take Advantage of This Before the End of the Month!!!

Trippin Riddim is Your Newest One-way Ticket to the Latest Roots Reggae Anthem

With such a groovy melody, a bold horn section led by the maestro, Dean Fraser, on point background vocals and catchy roots reggae chords, Itation Records' new release, the Trippin' Riddim produced by Ishi Dube's tuff Riddims, invokes the spirit of yet another roots renaissance. Indeed, in addition to Itation (responsible for United Regae's Best Reggae Riddim of 2008), names such as Luciano, Turbulence, Fantan Mojah, Sizzla, Delly Ranx and Kali Blaxx capture the best of the conscious music movement. Just check "Rastafari Bless" performed by Fantan Mojah which weaves together Fantan's rapid fire deejay flow and signature vocal range for a timeless, plaintive mood. Then there's Winstrong (Suriname), Messenjah Selah (Jamaica), Ras Attitude (Virgin Islands), Jah Sun and Bobby Hustle (United States) who make up the core of the current reggae scene in the Americas. Selah's combination with Sizzla,"We Overcome", offers the best of both worlds--Selah's soaring hooks and Sizzla's conscious dancehall poetics. Indeed, versatility is the name of the game. With eighteen tracks of up-to-the-time reggae vibes, it's easy to trip over the riddim's versatility with over an hour's worth of listening available. Bobby Hustle's "Words To Say" possesses that effortless, and infectious, pop sensibility that many reach for but few attain. Ishi Dube, Gideon & Sweet C and Zareb keep the message in the music alive while Stevie Culture, Ras Indo, Soul Medic, Vidagua and Ras Ijah make sure there is something for everyone including standout R&B, soul and pop contributions. Listen to the R&B-esque "Music Wash" performed by Vidagua where the catchy chorus is day-trippin' on Itation's one drop beat. The Trippin Riddim is your newest one-way ticket to the latest roots reggae anthem out of the Itation camp. Get yours on November 20 via iTunes and fine etailers worldwide.

Lutan Fyah will Perform at STING 2012

(Kingston, Jamaica) 'The Truth' is the theme that the organisers of this year's 29th staging of Sting have chosen. Supreme Promotions and their major partner this year, Downsound Records, say this year's Sting boasts a stellar package that they advocate will pull thousands to Jam World come December 26.

Launched last evening at the Wyndham hotel, the stakeholders, artistes and media were out in numbers to see first hand what the greatest one night reggae show on earth would bring to the table for 2012.

Though things got off to a late start, if one were a tourist to the happenings at Sting 2012 launch, you would easily mistake last night's encounter for the actual Boxing Day event, due to the large gathering that filled the hotel ballroom.

The show is divided into six categories, comprising - 12 Disciples of Dancehall, Best of Reggae, Independent Ladies, The Fantastic Four, Three the Hard Way and Next Generation.

The 12 disciples include the likes of Tommy Lee Sparta, Sizzla, Busy Signal, Ninja Man, Aidonia and Mavado. In the Best of Reggae, patrons will see Romain Virgo, Gyptian, Etana and Lutan Fyah.

Wayne Stoddart / Dean Fraser - Turn it Around

It is a fresh sound but the formula has not changed, if anything, like finewine Wayne Stoddart music has only gotten better with time… Better music, better vocals and the consistently uplifting lyrics we have all come toexpect.

As with his debut solo album Committed, Stoddart once again collaboratedwith Dean Fraser on this pulsating hit single TURN IT AROUND.  Where dothese uplifting titles and messages come from? Song after song, album afteralbum: Committed, Spirit of the Lord, Move on, Three Cs and now TURN ITAROUND! It is absolutely invigorating to watch this artist evolve into oneof reggae music premier singer / songwriter.  Wayne music has transcendedreligion, it is global; it appeals to everyone, and can be enjoyed by morethan the regular Sunday morning church goers.  Enjoy!
