A Valentine's Day Jazz Celebration with the Dmitri Matheny Group, presented by the Seattle Art Museum in association with Earshot Jazz and KPLU 88.5 FM. The downtown Seattle Art Museum offers an outstanding permanent collection and notable special exhibits. Similar to Spotify and Pandora in the United States and Europe, CBC Music provides citizens of Canada with free online streaming of videos, songs, concerts and playlists from leading Canadian and international artists. The service also includes streaming content from 40 radio stations in the hip-hop, R&B, jazz, classical, rock and pop genres. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art produced this interactive feature presenting in-depth profiles of some of California's most celebrated artists: Jay DeFeo, Richard Diebenkorn, Robert Arneson, Dorothea Lange, Nathan Oliveira, Sargent Johnson, Betye Saar, Edward Weston, David Park, Joan Brown, Imogen Cunningham and Betye Saar. Comprising artwork reproductions, photographs, documents, video and audio clips (including original music by Dmitri Matheny), Voices & Images of California Art has earned numerous awards, including first prize in the CD-ROM category of the American Association of Museums (AAM) publications competition, first prize in interactive media from AAM’s MUSE Awards, and a Gold Apple Award from the National Educational Media Network.
Workshop: Melodic Mastery

Dmitri is partnering with community organizations on tour to present Melodic Mastery, a series of jazz improvisation workshops for aspiring musicians. Based on the teachings of his mentor, jazz legend Art Farmer (photo), Matheny advocates a lyrical, melodic approach with an emphasis on deep listening and jazz-as-conversation. Confirmed workshops include April 24 at South Medford High School in Medford, Oregon, June 30 at The Jazzschool in Berkeley, California and July 16 at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington.
