The Blues are Alive in

Northwest Arkansas

 

 

Be part of America's heritage by celebrating Blues music and the artists who perform the classic American genre. The 11th annual “Blues in the Natural State” festival is coming to Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, 2013.

 

Sponsored by The Ozark Blues Society of Northwest Arkansas, this year’s festival features an outstanding line-up of Blues music representing the best of local, regional, national and world-stage musicians.   

 

Two days. Six venues. More than twenty acts in all. Dickson Street will come alive with the sounds of America’s original music. You have an opportunity to be part of American Blues history by supporting the festival, which will help keep the blues alive. 

 

Blues music lovers will find festival acts at George’s Majestic Lounge, the Rogue, Smoke & Barrel Tavern and Kingfish Dive Bar.

 

News this week... a current roster of who will be appearing at the festival:   John Lee Hooker Jr., Super Chikan and the Fighting Cocks, 2012 IBC solo winner Ray Bonneville, Earnest 'Guitar' Roy, Sonny Moorman, Lucious Spiller, Mark 'Muleman' Massey, RJ Mischo and his Red Hot Blues Band, Leah & the Mojo Doctors, The Chris Cameron Band, The Joe Pitts Band, Ed Bowman & the Cruize Brothers, The North Texas Allstars (featuring Michael Burks Band Drummer - Popcorn), Mississippi Fever, David Kimbrough Jr., Buddy Shute, The Sarah Hughes Band, The Got Blues Band, Earl & Them, Oreo Blue, Lectric Liz and her new band, Ocie & the Heartsrings and a Celebration of Life for our dear friend Jeff Carey.

OBS Board Meeting Notice

On Wednesday, February 20th, The Ozark Blues Society of Northwest Arkansas will hold it's Annual Board Meeting.

 

 

The Meeting will take place in the Tap Room on the 2nd floor of Hog Haus located on Dickson Street in Fayetteville and, will begin at 6:30pm.

 

The terms of President and Treasurer are up for election and there are several other folks who are interested in serving on the board as members.

 

This meeting is open to our members.  In order to vote, you must be a member in good standing.  If your membership has expired, you'll be able to renew at the meeting.  

 

We need to provide Hog Haus with a count of how many people we are expecting.   If you are interested in attending the meeting, click on this link: register now then,  then click on the register button (located on the right side of the screen).

Open Mic Night at MDA Studios

Come out and play some Blues Tonight!

 

The Ozark Blues Society of NWA will be holding an Open Mic Blues Progam for youth on Friday, February 15th.

 

This family friendly event is hosted by the Ozark Blues Society at MDA Central Casting Studios inside the NWA Mall in Fayetteville (next to Sears). 

 

Come early and get a seat and on the CALL LIST to perform.

 

Signups begin at 6:30pm

 

Music begins at 7:00pm

 

Just bring your guitar, harmonica, drum sticks and your voice... Drums, guitar amps, keyboards and PA will be provided.

 

All ages and skill levels welcome. 

Nathan A earns arts scholarship


Nathan Aronowitz is one of two recipients of this year's 'Fine Arts in the Four States 2013 Senior Scholarships'.

 

Nanthan will be a featured artist at the Balkans Bells festival March 2 at the First Christian Church in Pittsburg, KS.

 

The scholarship was awarded to Nathan because he composed and arranged all the songs on his "Few More Steps" CD.
