The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education

The New England Region of FGNA presents

Anatomy in Action

A GREAT series of workshops for Feldenkrais® Practitioners

with Anastasi Siotas, GCFAT

The Anatomy in Action series of workshops is designed to provide participants with a basic functional, kinesthetic understanding of our musculoskeletal system in action.

We will examine how the shape and location of our bones affects the transmission of forces generated by our effort through muscle synergies, how joint dynamics and patterns of muscle coordination move us through different orientations, and how positions and constraints in ATM lessons highlight and refine particular relationships.

Each weekend will focus on particular ATMs that address the structural, muscular, and kinesthetic topic at hand. We will deconstruct the steps of lessons and examine their implications for whole body actions.

  • Weekend 1: April 20 - 21  — Focus on Lower Extremities
  • Weekned 2: May 18 - 19  Focus on Torso & Breath
  • Weekend 3: June 8 - 9  Focus on Upper Extremities               10:00am-6:00pm — Watertown MA

"Anastasi is uniquely positioned to teach the Functional Anatomy we never learned in our trainings.  He's worked with Irene Dowd and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, among others, and can speak directly to what we see everyday in our practices: arthritis, joint replacements, spinal fusion, flat feet, tweaky SI joints, etc.  He is knowledgeable, generous, and you will come away with an improved image of the skeleton that you can share with your students."

 – Margo Hennebach (Anatomy in Action attendee, NYC, 2012)
