The Reggae Festival Guide with .........

RFG reporter Shelah Moody caught up with Cecil "Skelly" Spence and Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin of the Grammy-nomintated harmony duo Israel Vibration  before they played to a packed house at the Independent nignt club in San Francisco on Feb. 19. Backing vocalists Nicole "Nikki" Burt , on the left (known for her work with Buju Banton) and Bunny Brissett, on the right (an accomplished artist in her own right who just released her lovers' rock flavored solo album "Perspectives") added their soulful touch to the performance. Backed by the Roots Radics band, Israel Vibration had the crowd skanking with tracks such as "Brothers Keeper," "Same Song," "Vulture" and "Jail House." Incidentally, I-Vibes received a 2012 Grammy nomination for their album "Reggae Knights."

Jamaican Producer Shot And Almost Killed While Working With Pop Star Orisha Sound And Sizzla Kalonji

Jamaican producer, Sheldon Williams recently got together with California based pop star, Orisha Sound, as he was contracted to produce some Reggae songs on her upcoming album. One of the tracks they were working on was a collaboration with Reggae /Dancehall star Sizzla Kalonji entitled “embrace it”. On the morning of  Feb. 17th at approx. 12:30AM while the two were leaving a salon at Pavillion Mall (in Half Way Tree), they were robbed at gun point and Sheldon was shot once while Orisha Sound managed to escape (this was her second trip to Jamaica).

Shel K immediately got back to work once he was able to. Universal Records, Orisha Sound’s record label, is ok with the Reggae songs being released to the public ahead of the full length album. As such, disc jockeys and Reggae enthusiasts may download Orisha Sounds Reggae songs (produced by Shel K) here: http://www.mediafire.com/?exiku7nops7usdi

Vybz Kartel blasts police in new letter from jail

The five-page handwritten letter, publicized via Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer’s official Twitter page on Wednesday, outlines accusations by the embattled deejay that police have concocted lies, threats and evidence in order to smear his reputation prevent him from achieving bail.

Titled, This is Adidja Palmer stating the facts, the controversial entertainer holds nothing back.

“In 2011, I was charged for murder by way of a statement which indicated that I had ordered Lenburgh McDonald to murder Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton. Weeks later, said witness gave a statement to the Public Defender saying that he was physically assaulted and threatened by the police to say that I was involved in ‘Bossie’ Burton’s death. Days later, he gave another statement to the Public Defender saying that since he recanted the first statement, he has been getting death threats via calls to his phone.”  “Days after my first murder charge, I was charged with another murder (Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams). In this case, the police (by way of a Senior Superintendent who was later charged with “attempting to pervert the course of justice” in a separate incident) campaigned every Monday morning on a certain TV station claiming they had DNA evidence, which came back 7 months later as negative. They also led the public to believe that they had video tape of me and my co-accused murdering Williams. I would like to add that the police made a lot of damaging remarks against me. A most notable one would be “since his arrest, the community is a safer place.”

What Comes Naturally: Ziggy Marley marks foray into health foods with new organic line

Five-time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley continues to make his mark in the music world with his latest CD, Ziggy Marley in Concert. He has also branched out as a film producer with acclaimed, BAFTA-nominated Marley, and is also an author of children’s books. Now, the multihyphenate star has added health-food advocate and entrepreneur to his ever-expanding list of credits with his very own Ziggy Marley Organics, which includes a line of Coco’Mon oils, unveiled recently at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami.

Not only are the products pleasing to the taste buds, they are also seriously healthful. “Anything you can do with coconut, you can do with this. If you want to put on your skin it’s fine – cooking, anything you want to do. The hemp seeds are roasted. They don't have THC in them. They can’t make you high, but they will make you feel good,” Ziggy says. “One of my favourites is called Caribbean Crunch. It’s very nice, and it’s very crunchy – and it’s good for you. Everything good, you know?” To order the products, visit ziggymarleyorganics.com

Morgan Heritage :: Perfect Love Song

Thankfully fans will not have to wait to regale their ears with new music as the "Perfect Love Song" hit iTunes on Tuesday February 5th, 2013. The single was chosen for it's fun loving vibe. "It's different" says Peetah Morgan. The single merges genres as it captures the Morgan Heritage crossover appeal while keeping the roots vibe present in the verses. As an added Bonus, fans will delight in Gramps deejaying for the first time on a Morgan Heritage song in over 10 years.

"The story behind "Perfect Love Song" is just a person realizing that the one he or she loves makes them feel beyond good, beyond great. Instead the person makes them feel HEAVENLY!" - Peetah Morgan

"A perfect love song to me is a love song that goes beyond the bedroom. It's a song that can apply to love universally." - Mojo Morgan

Follow Your Own Path

"Life is complex. Each one of us must make his own path through life. There are no self-help manuals, no formulas, no easy answers. The right road for one is the wrong road for another ... The journey of life is not paved in blacktop; it is not brightly lit, and it has no road signs. It is a rocky path through the wilderness."
