More about Amy

Plein air painting is Amy Evans’ passion. It combines her love of nature with her love of art. She finds that each painting day is an adventure, whether it is the changing weather or an unexpected animal visit.

Amy paints in oils. Her plein air pieces are known for the subtle color that she sees in nature as well as her expressive brushwork. Her studio pieces are created from her outdoor studies and also capture the sense of the moment. Collectors have remarked that her work doesn't shout at you. It is quiet and serene.  Amy feels that it fills a void that current art trends are lacking; bringing serenity and beauty to one’s space.

Amy’s paintings have been in exhibits and galleries in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming. Her work is also in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Some of her awards have included a painting selected for the annual Breckenridge Music Festival Poster, an honorable mention in the Paint the Parks 2010 and the Mini-50 Paint America exhibitions, and a 2012 Juror’s Award at the Women Artists of the West Juried Show in Texas.

Amy holds a B.A. with Distinction in Art from Rhodes College, Memphis, TN. She has also studied at the Art Students League of Denver, CO. and the former Taos Institute of Art, Taos, NM. She has studied with some of the top artists in the country including Doug Dawson, L.Diane Johnson, Frank LaLumia, Fran Larsen, and Kevin MacPherson.  Amy is also an art instructor and conducts workshops in the Breckenridge, Colorado Arts District as well as for other art centers and art groups throughout the country.

Amy is Past President and signature member of Women Artists of the West, signature member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado, a member of the American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, and a charter and founding member of the Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
