Delbert McClinton at Walton Arts Center - Sunday, May 5

Returning to Walton Arts Center for the first time since his much-loved Valentine’s Day performance in 2010, Delbert McClinton is set to deliver another powerful performance to his highly devoted Arkansas audience.

The upcoming show features some of McClinton’s classic hits as well as plenty of new songs from his more recent albums.

McClinton, a three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, has left his footprint on many different areas in the music industry during a career that spans more than five decades.  As front-man for a 1960s bar band called The Straightjackets, McClinton honed his craft by backing such blues greats as Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Jimmy Reed. He continued to polish his musical skill-set while playing with countless musicians and recording various albums during the ‘70s and ‘80s. McClinton won his first Grammy in 1991 for a duet with Bonnie Raitt titled “Good Man, Good Woman.” After a stellar decade, he carried his success into the 2000s by winning two Grammys in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category – for his LPs Nothing Personal in 2001 and The Cost of Living in 2006.

McClinton’s show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25-$75 and are available by calling 443-5600 or via www.waltonartscenter.org.

Fayetteville Springfest 2013 Postponed

Due to the freakish weather we had today and weather expected tomorrow, we are postponing our event for a few weeks.

We will keep you posted on the future date and expect this event to be bigger than ever!

Fayetteville Springfest began in 1983 by merchants on Dickson Street as a way to celebrate the history, culture, and flavor of Fayetteville. The festival quickly became a late-April staple each year featuring a pancake breakfast, lots of live music, kid-friendly activities, arts and crafts vendors and the annual “bed races” where teams of participants put together their own racing beds and wheel them up Dickson Street.

After a year off last year, Springfest is back, and we think the festival will be better than ever in 2013.  Watch for the rescheduled date.

Quote for this Week

"I remember listening to the radio as a kid and finding that the songs always made me feel more peaceful. Funny, but the more hurtin' the music was, the better it made me feel. I think of that now when I write my songs. I may not be feelin' the blues myself, but I'm writing them for other people who have a hard life."

Chris Isaak
