Well, the March winds were in April and the April rains have been in May, but the calendar says SPRING!
Last November, Full Moon Farm was approved by the folks at Global Giving (www.globalgiving.org) for fundraising on an international level. We created Habitats for Howlers (the month of December), which was a year-end success! I am happy to report that the first of the enclosures has been completed, and Achilles is now in his new Habitat! We still have to tweak a few things, but he is a happy boy. Many thanks to all who donated, and the wonderful students at Warren Wilson College who put in many service hours helping make this happen.
Achilles in his new spacious enclosure
We have been land clearing for Isabelle's new habitat too, and measuring up to rebuild habitats for Coal and Indy as well as River.
We are thankful for your continued support. Please know that your tax deductible donations make a difference in the lives of all the residents at Full Moon Farm. We currently have a food drive listed on Facebook, as well as our Lil Woofer's program. Donations to the General Fund for food, bedding, vet care and operating expenses are also needed, and appreciated.
We do what we do, because of you - our supporters.

Sponsor Spotlight - Kate Shawgo
Wolfdog Sponsor Spotlight- Kate Shawgo
It was the year 2004 when Kate Shawgo had recently moved to Black Mountain. She was looking for something to do when her friend, the late Sandy Rector, of Bone-a-Fide Bakery, took Kate out to visit Full Moon Farm. Little did Kate know this trip up the mountain would lead to a lifetime of love.
When she first met Coal, he was new around here, too, and very skittish, frightening easily at every little movement or sound around him. Kate spent many hours either sitting outside his enclosure, or laying in the grass across from it, reading to Coal and just letting him know that she was there for him. She also decided to join FMF’s Wolfdog Sponsorship Program so she could help with the cost of his care. After a while of patiently waiting, Coal decided to honor Kate with a sniff of her hand, then a few tentative kisses, and then finally allowing her to scritch on him a little bit. The long-legged black Prince was hers!
Indy, Coal and Kate
A short time later, Coal got to have a lady friend, Indy, paired up and living with him. Kate knew this was a good match for him, and decided to sponsor both as a pair. Being one of our longest-term sponsors, Kate has been able to enjoy many happy times with Coal and Indy, such as coming out every Thanksgiving for the annual “Chicken Chucking”, and visiting with them on many other special occasions.
When you stop in at her shop, Mountain Spirit Cards and Gifts, in the Cherry St. courtyard in Black Mountain, ask to see her big black Bragbook so she can show you pictures of her times with the special pair. Kate also has two doggie dogs of her own, Bella, who is now retired and at home, and Trooper, her special needs guy who keeps her company at the shop.
Without folks like Kate Shawgo and our other wolfdog sponsors, our residents would not have the level of care they are able to get at Full Moon Farm. It takes 8 sponsors per wolfdog to provide the amount needed for their costs each month. If you would like to sponsor one, or more, of Full Moon Farm’s wolfdogs, please see our website at here or contact Sarah Hallback at firstname.lastname@example.org, or give Nancy Brown a call at 828-664-9818. We currently also have a special, one-time, Gift Sponsorship of $50, which makes for a wonderful graduation or birthday present!
Thank you to all who participated in the Silpada Jewelry Fundraiser and the Flower Power Fundraiser for Full Moon Farm over the past month! The funds raised will go to help take care of the needs of the animals in the sanctuary! We appreciate your continued support and look forward to future opportunities to bring you interesting and exciting options to participate in going forward.

Hello from Gwenny’s Gift Den!
First of all, we need to send a big THANK YOU to volunteers Pam and Dave for making our new sign! Please send them howls of love!
This month’s featured merchandise comes from Glass Scratchers in Ohio. They do custom engraving work on a wide variety of items, and can accommodate one-of-a-kind, or multiple item orders. John has been making merchandise for our gift den for two years now, and loves to deliver our items to us personally so he has a reason to visit with the wolfdogs. He can also send orders individually to your home or work address, so we ask that you place your request of items directly with Glass Scratchers, unless you are planning to come and see us in person at an event. This will save time and shipping cost all around.

Buddy came to Full Moon Farm in 2010. Buddy was picked up as a stray in the Hot Springs area of Madison County, NC. He is a bit of a folk hero, having eluded capture for months! Buddy is shy and reserved around strangers, but is very social and loving to regular volunteers. We are hoping to pair Buddy up with Isabelle in a new enclosure this summer. He is a low content Malamute and German Shepherd mix with a birthday around September 1, 2007.
Sponsorships are an important part of our success. The funds raised in sponsorships help provide food and medical care for the resident wolfdogs. We appreciate each and every one of our sponsors and thank you for everything you do to help us take care of the wolfdogs. Many of the wolfdogs are still in need of sponsors; please let us know if you would be interested in sponsoring one or more of our beloved residents. You can find information on our website for the sponsorship packages but please email us if you have any questions or need further information. We have monthly, bi-annual and annual options available to meet all budget needs! To sponsor an animal visit our website here.
