What is it? The Florida story of course.
"The River Way Home: The Adventures of the Cowboy, the Indian, & the Amazon Queen" is a high-spirited tale of pre-bulldozer Florida for young adults and adults who are young at heart. Three young teens explore western Martin County and the pristine St. Lucie and Indian Rivers of 1914 and become the heroes of their own legends in this historical novel full of action, humor, exotic animals, and conflicts that remain contemporary today. It’s a classic tale of friendship and coming-of-age that will take you back in time to your childhood favorites and which includes a section of old photos and short
historical essays at the end.
Mary E. Dawson Bio: A former Martin County Commissioner and attorney, Mary E. Dawson is the author of two prize-winning novels, "The River Way Home: The Adventures of the Cowboy, the Indian, and the Amazon Queen" and "Code Name Nanette," which is in production. Also a former professional photographer, editor for NASA, and community activist, Mary searched from New Orleans, to Seattle, to Houston, and Miami, before she found the place she calls home - a small remnant of Florida's last frontier, which she shares with friends, family, and a black-and-tan hound that wandered out of the Allapattah Flats one sunny afternoon.
