David Hinds is a super star: his charisma, his moves, his powerful lyrics. Sunday night, July 7 in Quincy, CA, Steel Pulse headlined High Sierra Music Festival, an eclectic event with such a wide variety of music: Robert Plant, Thievery Corporation, moe…..so many bands.

We knew in advance that Amlak Tafari, bass player extraordinaire, wouldn’t be joining the band for HSMF, as he was burying his father, who had recently passed. So they moved Donovan McKitty (guitar) to cover the bass, and Cliff “Moonie” Pusey, (Pulse’s longtime former guitar player) ripped it on lead.

Bob Marley's Stage Manager From 1978 to 1981

Shares Insights Through His Book

Behind the scenes the iconic King of Reggae Mark Miller worked as the stage manager for Bob Marley, the worlds most famous reggae icon, from July 14, 1978 until the stars death in May 1981. Mark's experience with Marley allows him to speak as an insider and confidant. Bob Marley was a very private man, yet Mark shares insights as to what contributed to Bob Marley's hypnotic charisma. Mark talks about Bob's religiosity as a Rasta, his favorite foods and drinks, and other personal aspects of Bob's inner character. He reports on some incredible adventures and experiences on all five continents such as the time in Italy where Bob Marley gathered nearly 200,000 fans more than the Pope, or when they were received by policemen with machine guns at the Frankfurt Airport, and then in Jamaica where fans carried tote bags full of marijuana. This book is full of anecdotes and background information that Mark Miller has put together to keep the vibes alive to honor the memory of his mentor and friend. He has reached deep into his archives, talked to old friends, and collected a lot of exclusive images and memorabilia. Bob Marley, authentic and up close!
