Detroit Black Music Awards Celebrities
The DBMA is probably on of the only award shows in the country where Motown celebrities are presenting awards to Detroit's local stars.
The 5th annual Detroit Black Music Awards is underway. Local musicians and entertainers will gather at Bert's WarehouseTheater Sunday August 4, 2013. Motown former celebrities expected to attend as presenters are K'Jon ("On The Ocean") , Kim Weston ("It Takes Two"), Laura Lee (Woman's Love Rights), the Original Vandellas
("No Where To Run (No Where To Hide"),and Spyder Turner {aka... Dwight David}("The Last Dragon").
Other artists and presenter expected that evening is Mark Scott (current lead singer of the Miracles), and hosted by
Detroit's 3rd District Circuit Judge Debrah Thomas, and Internet famed DJ Mel from the DJ Mel Show

Yes, its true... the Queen is coming home. Diana Ross is finally coming back home to Detroit to perform.
The problem is the venue might be to small. Detroiters are happy about her presence. The Motown group the Supremes
were amongst the arsinal of super star Motowners to break the color barrier in the music scene. What makes her career
interesting is that she wasn't always the super diva we know and love. The early years of the Supremes were bleak.
When everyone on the Motown Revue scene had hit records out the Supremes were teased for being the "No Hit Supremes",
because the group had no serious hit songs to brag about and their comrades teased them relentlessly. The change in their
career came when Berry Gordy asked the writings team of Holland Dozier Holland to write something for the floundering group.
HDH was the songwriting team of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. The Supremes wanted songs like Martha. Once the team
started writing a pool of songs quickly rose to the top of the charts almost immediately.
