The Downtown Livewires
" Cruisin' for a Bluesin' "
CD Release Party!

The Downtown Livewires will be having a CD Release Party for their new CD   " Cruisin' for a Bluesin' " at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville tonight at 7pm.

Plus, Oreo Blue entertains the Happy Hour Crowd in the Garden from 6pm to 8pm.

What a great way to kick off the weekend!

Here's what some people are sayig about the Downtown Livewires...

"I've been doing music business with Roger since the mid-80's. Most recently, he brought his blues band, The Downtown LIVEWIRES Band, to my Club 152 on Beale Street in Memphis. They packed one of the largest crowds we had this year (2012) on Saturday night, September 22. Additionally, their crowd buys drinks and food, which helps any "for profit" entertainment business, like ours. We will work with The Downtown LIVEWIRES Band again, and look forward to a great party atmosphere just like the last time!"

Celebrate the Inauguration!

On August 17, 2011 an online petition was launched advocating for the establishment of an International Blues Music Day.  Within a few months the petition-group was joined by thousands of members from around the world, comprising of blues enthusiasts, musicians, celebrities, and promoters.  After reaching 10,000 members, a  formula for an annual date to celebrate IBMD was established as the first Saturday in August of each year with the inaugural celebration set to take place on August 3, 2013.  The initiative was the brainchild of world renown blues musician Johnny Childs who also stars in the film The Junkman's Son and serves as the President of the NYC Blues Society.   The IBMD organization and the NYC Blues Society are the lead nonprofit organizations charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration.

Paul Thorn - George's 8-13-13

What the Hell
is goin' on?

Catch Paul Thorn and his band at George's Majestic Lounge on Tuesday August 13.

As his website currently states... Paul Thorn took an unexpected detour on the road to recording a follow-up to his most successful release, 2010's Pimps and Preachers. After writing many discs of semi-autobiographical tunes that have drawn comparisons to John Hiatt and John Prine, the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter - hailed as the "Mark Twain of Americana" - decided to do an album of covers. "I wanted to take a break from myself," he reveals, "do something different, and just have fun."
