Many, many thanks to Jessica Hogg and John Johnston for their years of service on Wet and Wild Wednesdays.

Fog Dog Award Nominations - - Claire Zepeda
It's that time of year again! For our newer members, this annual award (approved by the ASI Board in Oct of 2010) is given to a person in the club who typifies the definition of a Fog Dog.

The American Heritage® Dictionary defines Fog Dog as a bright spot sometimes seen at the horizon as a fog starts to dissipate or a bright or clear spot that appears in breaking fog. For ASI, the Fog Dog nominees are beacons, shining lights, making unique and nautical contributions to our amazing organization and its wonderful members. There are many people in the club who give most generously of their time and talents - often with limited or no recognition of their contribution.

The nomination process itself is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank some of those members.Nominations should include a descriptive narrative explaining why this person should be nominated, what specific contribution he/she made, how they were a Fog Dog in the club, and how they furthered the goals and Mission Statement of ASI. Please send them to clairezepeda@gmail.com

The narratives will be published in the Burgee, balloting will follow in late February and results will be announced at the Annual Awards Banquet. Our past Fog Dog recipients were Bill Lane, Jack Townsend and Don Caley. Who has been a Fog Dog for you?

"Like" Our Club
We have a great club and there's lots to like about ASI sailing. Have you "liked" our public Facebook page?  Andrew Lensky is doing a great job of advertising our club and making interesting, fun posts to grab the public's interest and direct them to sign up for classes. Are you doing your part to increase membership?

What can you do to share our club and classes with potential new members? Well, everyone can "like" the FB page and comment on your own FB page to tell your friends they can sign up for classes now.  Let them know what you enjoy about sailing and ASI.

When you see an ASI post on your news feed, "like" each post and make a comment. The more "likes" FB posts get the more people will see them and learn about ASI. Remember, this is a public page so make short, positive comments about sailing with ASI.

The marketing committee is working on new flyers, in the mean time you can print and post the flyers from our web site, www.sailASI.org under Documents. Finally If you have ideas for FB posts please let us know. Thank you Andrew !

Save the Date!
Our next 70/30 pot luck is March 29th and will also be the annual Sail Sew.
Pencil in the date, all are welcome. More details to come.
Photos Needed--David Ei
I need beautiful and exciting pix of our boats for the new ASI website. If you have photos that you’d like to share with the world, please send them to me at: david.ei@eieioh.net
I especially need photos of Overture and Interlude under sail.
Sailing Turquoise Waters?
Ahoy sailors!

A Caribbean sailing week is being considered for late January/early February 2015.  This is not an ASI sponsored trip, but an attempt to organize a week for anyone whom might be interested.

We are considering USVI and/or BVI.  Do you have a preference?  Are you interested in being a captain or crew?  We normally do the last week in January to get good weather and keep costs down (pre-prime time).

Are you interested?
E-mail and let us know: bviusvi2015@gmail.com

The Final Word--Mike Perrin
Here's Don in a place that looks much warmer than Michigan.  Enjoy it while you're there Don, we are still buried in snow and single digit temperatures.

Until Don returns please send me your Burgee content at  mperrin01@comcast.net.  It would be helpful to put "BURGEE CONTENT" as the subject line so it doesn't get lost in my inbox, which happens quite often.  Photos that may go with your content are appreciated.
