Yoga is Transformative
"Those who wish to change their thoughts or any other aspect of their lives in a lasting way had best remember that everything is connected. Thoughts, feelings, sensations, actions, conditioning, environment, and so much more all influence one another. Real change, sometimes called transformation, can, of course, come through powerful life shocks, but intentional change requires desire and knowledge. It also requires a kind of global consciousness, an ability to see things in their connectedness."--Dennis Lewis

Mudras for Healing and Transformation
I just got back from a week long training with the fabulous IYT staff.  Can't say enough about what an awesome experience it was for me.  I think being at the Ancient Yoga Center in Austin helped because there were no distractions except maybe the peacocks.

Check out Joseph and Lilian's book

They will be offering another training at Kripalu in September, following Modules 1 and 2, also awesome programs.
IYT Internship Program
While I'm on the topic of IYT, I want to let you know that I am now mentoring in the IYT professional yoga therapist internship program.  This was a challenging and incredibly rewarding part of my own training experience.  So often we return home from training with lots of new tools, experiences, and ideas only to be thrown back into our everyday lives.  At some point, weeks or even months later then we intended, we go back to the material and remember how great it is.  Well, the internship really helps you to stay focused and use the material in your community.  I find that it has helped me to become a better yoga teacher and yoga therapist.  Check it out!
Individual Yoga Teacher Mentoring
If you're not part of the IYT program, you can still receive mentoring and business coaching - through me!  I'll be happy to mentor you through your current project, career development, class and workshop development, private lessons, etc.  Contact me to make an appointment - karen@yogahealsus.com

Mind Set Physical Training and Moon Bridge Yoga
This neuro-wellness facility is dedicated to providing people who have multiple sclerosis resources to improve their daily lives through personal training, nutrition, adaptive yoga and personal support.  I wish there was one of these everywhere!  And best wishes to the Mind Set Bike Team.  They are riding the MS150 this weekend to raise money for MS research.

When I was in Texas a few weeks ago, I was invited to sit in on a chair yoga class for students with MS at Moon Bridge Yoga.  It was so inspiring and gratifying to participate.  In 2007, Travis, the founder of Mind Set, was working for the NMSS in Fort Worth when I first approached him about being part of the first "Teaching Adaptive Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis (TAYMS)" program that I taught Divine Yoga Center in Southlake.  At first, Travis had no idea what I wanted from him.  And then he came to the training.  He presented the "What is MS?" segment of the training 3 or 4 times.  And he was hooked on yoga.  He told me that when he open Mind Set in its current location, he wanted yoga to part of the neuro-wellness experience so he included a yoga studio in the build out.  That yoga studio is Moon Bridge Yoga which offers 4 adaptive yoga classes a week for students who have MS.  And I am very happy to have brought adaptive yoga for people living with MS to Texas!  It's awesome to see it blossom and help so many people.
