TABLE  OF  CONTENTS
Greetings from your Editor...
Discover blues treasures...

May 18th is International Museum Day, a reminder that we should visit, appreciate, and support museums... maybe even volunteer or donate.

You can discover many blues-specific museums along the Mississippi Blues Trail such as The Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS, the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, MS, the Highway 61 Blues Museum in Leland, MS, the Memphis Rock & Soul Museum in Memphis, TN, Delta Cultural Center in Helena, AR and more. Several feature workshops and kids programs. Other museums are in the works and may need your help like the Blues Foundation's Blues Hall of Fame in Memphis, TN and The National Blues Museum project in St. Louis, MO. Search and you shall find and discover a wealth of blues history.

In fact, it's also "Rat Pack" week and if you like to save stuff, you may even find something spectacular in your "collections" to donate to a museum!

I'm located in Southern California and heading off to the Doheny Blues Festival this weekend in Dana Point, CA to collect some great vibes. Hope to see you!

Birthdays of note this week: May 17 Taj Mahal (1942), May 18 Big Joe Turner (1911), May 19 Jimmy Thackery (1953), May 21 Dave Specter (1963), May 26 Mamie Smith (1883), May 27 Junior Parker (1932), May 28 T-Bone Walker (1910) and ...Kaati our BFG publisher.

CD & DVD Releases
Mick Kolassa :: MICHISSIPPI MICK
Michissippi Mick is Mick Kolassa, a lifelong musician and hardcore blues fan who is also on the Board of Directors of the Blues Foundation and an active participant in the Memphis Blues scene. Born in Michigan, Mick has lived in Mississippi for over 20 years.

This album is a labor of love; 100% of the gross proceeds will go to the Blues Foundation, split between two very important programs: the HART Fund and Generation Blues.

Mick has recorded a blend of original songs and added in a few surprise covers. With songs ranging from the rock-solid electric blues of “Blowtorch Love” to the jug-band style reworking of WC Handy’s classic “Beale Street Blues,” this album gives the listener a taste of many styles of the blues.

The Blues Stalker Monte Adkison Interviews Mick Kolassa
Like yours truly, Mick Kolassa has focused his passion into a project that helps others. Known affectionately by his moniker “Michississippi Mick” due to having split his residency between Michigan and Mississippi respectively, Mick is a talented musician, songwriter as well as a current board member of the Blues Foundation. His recent philanthropic project involves assembling an exceptionally talented group of musicians and recording a CD of which 100% of the gross sales benefit two Blues Foundation programs, the HART fund and Generation Blues. This is a true winning proposition—I encourage you to do what I did, buy several copies of this disc that is a great listen and give as gifts to your blues-loving friends.
