Blues Festival Guide
June 5, 2014
Vol 9/Issue 23
TABLE  OF  CONTENTS
Greetings from your Editor...
Greening the blue...

Today is the official day to celebrate "greening the blue..." earth that is!  World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The theme this year is to focus on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The official slogan for 2014 is 'Raise Your Voice Not The Sea Level."

Our Video of The Week is John Mayall's "Nature's Disappearing." Sadly, this was released in 1970 and look at where we're at today! It's never too late to become proactive even if it's simply making sure you place your recyclables in the containers provided at festivals. If they don't have any, please reach out to the people behind the scenes. It takes a village... and we sure don't want to see any village disintegrate. Of course, have fun out there, but let's make it our mission to keep greening our big blue(s) world.

Share a festival you know of that incorporates "green" into their blues.

Birthdays of note coming up: June 8 Derek Trucks (1979), James Harman (1946); June 9 Johnny Ace (1929), Jackie Wilson (1934), Skip James (1902); June 10 Howlin' Wolf (1910); June 12 Kenny Wayne Shepherd (1977); June 13 James Carr (1942).
