Blues News You Can Use!
Too Blessed to Be Stressed

On Thursday, October 30, Paul Thorn and his band come to George's Majestic Lounge for a performance and CD release party for his latest... "Too Blessed To Be Stressed".

Here's what Paul had to say about this release...

"In the past, I've told stories that were mostly inspired by my own life," the former prizefighter and literal son of a preacher man offers. "This time, I've written 10 songs that express more universal truths, and I've done it with a purpose: to make people feel good."

"Too Blessed To Be Stressed" is out now and you can order the CD and special packages with lots of extras (vinyl!) here now.

“Blues on Beale Street: Memoirs of the International Blues Challenge” is a photo book accompanied by a series of personal experiences, short stories, song lyrics and quotes collected from a vast variety of International Blues Challenge attendees.

The photo book is collaboration between Jenn Ocken and Greg Johnson. Their goal in creating this book was to skip a chronological order of events and instead get down to the dirt on the street! Relive the IBC’s through photos and stories of those who experienced it firsthand.

The book will officially be released at the 31st International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN on January 22, 2015.

20% of all pre-ordered books will be donated to The Blues Foundation’s Generation Blues fund, providing scholarship money for youth, to encourage them to follow their passion, live the dream, and keep giving so much of what is beautiful inside them.

This Week's Quote

"Because the blues is the basis of most American music in the 20th century. It's a 12-bar form that's played by jazz, bluegrass and country musicians. It has a rhythmic vocabulary that's been used by rock n' roll. It's related to spirituals, and even the American fiddle tradition."
