Blues and Rock have met at many different crossroads. From Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, and Cream to Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, and Gov’t Mule. These blues rock recipes are often boiled down to a simple trio. Such is the melting pot of influences and presentation of the Alastair Greene Band. The ‘AGB' combines a deep respect for Blues roots while keeping an eye on the present and future of Blues music.
The Alastair Greene Band can also be augmented with Hammond organ and / or harmonica for festivals.
Alastair Greene is best known for his blues-infused, soulful, and melodic guitar playing (as well as one of a rare-breed to play slide guitar). Not only is Greene a Blues guitar slinging and singing front man, but he has also served many years as a side man to some legendary musicians. He has toured with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Franck Goldwasser, and Mitch Kashmar and has also performed onstage with such notable artists as Eric Burdon, Slash, Jimmy Vivino, James Harman, and Bob Margolin.
Currently, Greene is also the touring guitarist with Alan Parsons and has been touring the world with this British Classic Rock veteran since 2010. Alan was quoted as saying, "Alastair should be out playing guitar with the biggest bands in the world. I believe it's just a matter of time." Heady praise indeed coming from the man who engineered Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
Greene’s fifth studio recording, Trouble at Your Door, was released in July 2014 on Eclecto Groove Records and received stellar reviews and airplay. Shortly thereafter, the band signed to the Tina Terry Agency for worldwide booking.
The Alastair Greene Band was formed in 1997. A few line-up changes over the years has lead to the current configuration with the Blues and Roots groove of Austin Beede on drums and the powerful Jim Rankin on bass and vocals. The ‘AGB’ has opened shows and has appeared on festivals with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Michael Burks, Nick Moss Band, Robin Trower, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Lonnie Brooks, Jonny Lang, Mike Campbell's Dirty Knobs, and many more.
